Not a Le Bris out thread but one of the big contradictions about us is when you look at pundits, Journos, our own fans opinions the general consensus is that this team man for man is one of the best we have had for decades.
Remove the newly promoted perception and you could make a case for almost all of the 11 that have started the last few games being talked about for bigger and better things.
Roefs is one of the most coverted young goalkeepers in the league. Had a bit of a collapse in form since the injury but will be targeted for big money by champions league clubs in the summer.
Our back 4 likewise. I could see any of those starting today getting offers from top clubs in the summer with the exception of Reineldo only because of his age. Wouldn’t be at all surprised to see the top 4 targeting Mukiele and Ballard.
Sadiki likewise is being linked to Chelsea and Man Utd.
Xhaka is a cut above.
Le Fee being linked with Arsenal.
Brobbey interest from Bayern Munich and one of the best physical strikers in the league.
These aren’t inflated fan views this is the reality that probably 8 or 9 of those starting tonight will either be on the radar for clubs well above us or have come from that level and are winding down.
So without wanting to criticise Le Bris, if we take off the newly promoted tag and lower expectations that come with it, objectively with the players we can put on the pitch is 10th to 15th really better then par? I’d argue a lot of the view that it is is simply because we are a promoted club and not actually assessing where we should be with the players we have. Which might become more obvious next season when 5 or 6 of those starting tonight could easily be playing for Champions League clubs if we are willing to sell in the summer.
