We're in a funny place at the minute (thats the general populous, not the club) in that even though theres meant to be a cost of living crisis, yet demand for live events (sport, music etc) is through the roof (also at record prices). Which after covid & being locked in the house for a couple of years with next to no social interaction, that spike in demand is understandable. The same happened after WW2, where in the late 40s & early 50s football saw a boom with big crowds flocking to matches. Then crowds started to tail off as i guess the novelty wore off. Its easy to get carried away, but you need a robust plan that works for a multitude of eventualities & not overburden yourself too much. Even if they start putting the wheels in motion now, itll be at least 12 months before any work would start, at which point they can put the brakes on if we turn out to be a one season wonder. Mind, if history does repeat itself, there'll be some pretty big casualties id have thought.

It's better to use the crowds we got the last time we were up for a decade, not that far back to 40's and 50's.
IIRC (someone correct me as I forget), but we were not at capacity each game. I seem to remember 43K average?

Ten years is a long time in football. There's been times in the last 10 years where we couldn't afford that.

Someone smart could probably invent some sort of finance deal that shifts the risk for a royalty. Unless the ownership group are happy to secure the debt themselves?

Hopefully we do it as it shows they mean business.

Waiting would allow the club to test how much they can milk/push the fan base to maximise revenue within the existing capacity.

These people aren't daft, they'll test limits first and do the sums.

How do you attract new fans kids ect if we are sold out every week?Finance any expansion over a long term loan and it will look like peanuts in ten years time!The club needs to drive the business on and part of that is about mining new fans and an extension is the obvious choice!It doesnt really matter for the business (if your a long term planner)if we have a lean spell and the crowds drop its about can we afford it ,can we pay the loan repayments even during the lean times and if we can well we will have a stadium ready for both the lean and good times.Its simple really if they can afford it they will build it and if they cannot they wont!

As I said. There have been times recently where we couldn't easily service that sort of loan. You're right about locking out new fans though.

Its a business mate and if you want to grow you have to take some financial risk or you stagnate .... Our owners wont stagnate thats for sure so its either going to be massive price rises or an extension so im in the extension camp,what about you?In reality i think the could extend the south stand for under 100 million and thats six months revenue at present rates and im sure KLD could get a decent long term loan deal over 20 years that we could service even at championship level revenue.Perhaps GOM would like to comment?
