The way the stadium is designed surely it wouldn’t cost more than £20-30million to do itIt's costing Aston Villa £100m for their new stand construction costs are massive now. When Spurs built their new stadium it cost £1 billion
Arlreet Bob ?The way the stadium is designed surely it wouldn’t cost more than £20-30million to do it
It wouldn't.The way the stadium is designed surely it wouldn’t cost more than £20-30million to do it
Like escape to victory .And a tunnel / walkway under the pitch connecting west and east stands.
Good job Bob ignored the doubters when he extended the North Stand for £7m. We wasted more than that around that time on the likes of Flo. Probably could have extended the whole stadium at the time for an extra £17-18m.Either way it’s not gonna get any cheaper
It was about £7m then. Obviously things have gone up a lot, but by what multiple? It wouldn't.
In 1999.
Aston villa sell outs - six times in 26 seasons.Nobody is saying let’s never do it. Just some of us are saying wait to see if we continually sell it out because upto now this is only season 3 of 20 odd since the last extension. Read the latest posts about the construction costs these days. This isn’t something that can be knocked up overnight for peanuts. The people demanding an extension would likely be the first to piss and moan if we did and and our budgets on transfers got cut back as we had to cut our cloth accordingly. What’s wrong with finding our feet, assessing the demand and then deciding? Knee jerk decisions generally aren’t very well thought out or end well.
Fuck that though mate, let’s just do it because suddenly demand exceeds supply for the first time in quarter of a century!
John hall had them in huge debt thoJohn hall took risks and the mags took off to another level , we have the opportunity to do similar and kick on not stand still
Cheers mate, always thought they were extending prematurely and this confirms it.Aston villa sell outs - six times in 26 seasons.
Then we'd be left with a whole stadium that wouldn't be fit for modern purposesGood job Bob ignored the doubters when he extended the North Stand for £7m. We wasted more than that around that time on the likes of Flo. Probably could have extended the whole stadium at the time for an extra £17-18m.
You might as well bang your head against a brick wall mate.Football in general is a lot more popular than the last time we were in the Premier League - I don’t know how many times this needs to be pointed out. It’s a completely different beast.
We clearly don’t plan to regress on the pitch and we have a waiting list. We also need to be best placed for non-football events. Quinn and Monty’s is sold out and the boxes have a waiting list too.
Get it built.
I read a waiting list of 35 for boxes as wellFootball in general is a lot more popular than the last time we were in the Premier League - I don’t know how many times this needs to be pointed out. It’s a completely different beast.

Tell that to Spurs fans. And what harm did that do them? Regular European football, big signings and permanent top flight status. Left the club in a position far stronger than they were when he took it over.
They’ve had a couple of relegations that they immediately and strongly bounced back from under a subsequent owner and the foundations that Hall built made them attractive to PIF who have subsequently delivered European football and silverware.
Investing into infrastructure, even if it does bring debt, is no bad thing. It’s the best debt to have. Bad debt is when you’re borrowing with interest to keep the lights.
Largely though this is down to touristy fans and the increase in that sort of (imo) sickening market. I’m not convinced, and am actually quite proud of, the fact we don’t seem to have that market yet. I would rather 40,000-45,000 proper Sunderland supporters in the ground than 60,000 diluted by tourists. Look what has happened to Spurs compared to the old WHL. Absolutely tragic. I don’t know how many times this needs pointed out either, and I’m aware some will not understand that point of view and see it as holding the club back.Football in general is a lot more popular than the last time we were in the Premier League - I don’t know how many times this needs to be pointed out. You would hope no more than 30. But that will be going on the original design, when I would hope they have a plan to do a little more and improve the facilities and create a little more space for hospitalility, maybe entrances and exits to generally improve the matchday experience. But at a max I wouldn’t expect it to be more than 50-60 million. It was about £7m then. Obviously things have gone up a lot, but by what multiple?
