Omar Alderete 🇵🇾 Signed!

Not sure I'd be having him playing line breaking passes as a negative atm like, at least two recently have lead to us scoring a goal and he's one of the few actually looking to play them.

They're obviously risky but RLB keeps yapping on about us needing to be braver so maybes others should try it too.
Tottenham and Palace

He did well at Everton away for 120 mins and scored the winning penalty, I think Alderete is quality but his performances of late have been poor and I did say we have other options if we were to rest him not just 09 like Reinldo to switch to CB to partner Ballard or Mukiele and Ballard as the two CBs.
I saw him against Dortmund U19, he couldn't cope with those kids.
I love Luke, but he's not a Premier League footballer and it's absolutely ridiculous to suggest he should play ahead of Alderete.
If he's really that tired we always have Geertruida to come in.

He had a shocker v Brentford but otherwise he's been fine, he will lose the ball more than the average centre back but I think his passing is all part of the plan and we've seen how it leads to goals for us.

I agree, that's the point of trying to pass it out of defence, risking a little. We won't always succeed in doing it perfectly but we keep exercise it; maybe next season we'll be masters of it. We did very well playing like that, the results speak for themselves. We can't just scrape it because we made an error or two.

Think he needs a rest, hasn't been right for a few games now, bring in 09 for him or could put Reinildo at LCB and Cirkin left back or Mukiele and Ballard as the RCB and LCB with Hume right back and Reinldo left back, we have options.

We've took more gambles recently and defenders have been more exposed as a result - certainly yesterday we didn't have a midfield first half and played Mayenda losing some defensive cover, same for most if Brentford - midfield completely overrun.

Reinildo was hopeless yesterday and completely exposed, I wouldn't be suprised if he was carrying an injury as he seemed laboured and Bowen tore him a new one and Mukiele had been poor too.

It worked against City where we pushed Alderete into midfield and Mukiele dominated Haaland one on one, but as a team we aren't good enough and don't have the pacey defenders to be playing one on one at the back regularly in the main- people have gotten carried away with how good they think we are.

Apart from The odd sloppy pass, which everyone is guilty of, Alderete has been fine and the idea we could replace with the likes of O'nien is mental.

I said he is an option just like the other lads I have mentioned before. I see Geertruida more of right back or DM who many have said should of started for Xhaka yesterday. See who RLB picks against Burnley but anyway Mags lost at home to Villa so Happy Sunday to you and other fellow Mackems all around the world

It’s getting us caught when the fullbacks have pushed right up as they aren’t an easy option out wide to pass too , he’s having to try force passes through the crowded midfield and losing possession leaving half the team pushed on and is short at the back he’s doing it a hell of a lot atm
The passes are getting a bit too adventurous trying tomolau balls through 5 midfielders into brobbys feet needs to be more selective we are getting caught short on the breaks

I reckon you're spot on here and the rest of your post. Got no help from Mundle mind although I think that was by design. Reinildo's stats re one on ones had been top notch against better players than Bowen but yesterday he was miles off. Must have been ill or carrying a knock of some kind. Didn't watch the 2nd half but presumably Cirkin did better.

Apart from Brentford Alderete has been spot on. Don't think he could take any blame for yesterdays first half. Maybe he's not been as good as his previous high standards but don't throw the baby out with the bath water.

Points raised regarding Renildos performance yesterday are valid. Bowen ripped him a new one, he's not used to it, didn't like it and reacted badly I thought. Regis was right to hook him.
Addressing the title of the thread. Alderete has been hitting too many floated balls lately, particularly yesterday, often difficult to control and easy to intercept. Leads to the ball being turned over and putting us back under pressure.

Reinildo was getting zero defensive support from Mundle like. Thought it was strange as it’s usually one of Mundle's stronger qualities.
With a third midfielder, there is normally support in the middle as well as the winger for overlaps. Perhaps he made the calculation that it was better to show Bowen down the line more without that extra support. Letting up the cross for first goal happens and was generally in fine enough position. His yellow was really weird though as it seems he could have recovered without the grab. Maybe he was feeling a little something.

"He's been really good," said Le Bris about Alderete.

"He's a bit different. His character, the way he trains every day, his connection with his teammates. He is a bit older and with a different culture.

"His job as a centre-back is probably a bit different then a midfielder, a striker or winger but he's been really important to us and the way we want to play.

"When the opponent wants to go direct, he is really good at managing duels and long balls inside the box. He has this ability to defend and doesn't need to force it.

"He likes defending the box. His left foot is really good too.

"Sometimes, he can be without a good level of energy to give the right tempo but it's because he is so skilled so it's easy for him. I think he has improved this part during the season."

Le bris pretty much nails it there.

Alderete is an absolute class act.

What does that mean in English?

He’s laid back as fuck sometimes and gets himself in trouble?

He’s fking mustard. Him, Reinildo, Nordi in one summer man, as a newly promoted team. Absolutely fking mental. A summer so good a player of Geertruidas ability and pedigree has struggled to get in the side. It’s completely bonkers.

Thats just defence… Roofs, Xhaka and Sadiki have probably been our best buys…… Competely mental and I don’t think we’re getting the praise we deserve personally. .

We have a summer half as good as last and we’re gunna have some fking team next season.

Its because weve just slipped into the cartel like we belong there whereas the mags kick and scream whilst trying to do it
