Race For Europe

Maybe so, just noticed he played 42 minutes on Sunday. Hope he’s out, brings great balance to their left side
I had a look on their forum and they’re saying that he was stretchered off in a previous game but then came back out for the second half.

So he’ll probably be fine.

Top half finish would do me.
They have exceeded all expectations for me, I’m like a dog with 2 cocks just staying up. Not sure Europe is a good idea to be honest, just look at Forest, 7th last year and a relegation battle this year probably down to fixture overload. I dunno I’ve just followed us long enough to be wary that if owt good happens a swift kick to plums usually follows.

Maybe we can learn from the mistakes Forest made. Did they bolster their squad enough to cope with the extra games?

If we do land in the Conference League I have faith our recruitment will make sure we stay competitive.

Just been looking at the games left and the teams currently above us in the race for a European spot.

I’ll start off by saying I don’t think Brentford will stay 7th. Got a complete bastard of a run in - Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool away. And West Ham at home. They might surprise but those 3 away games alone I can’t see them getting much from.

I think Chelsea have a tough run too. Got to go to the most in form team in the league midweek away at Brighton. And they have to go to Anfield. Their two home games are against Forest and Spurs. They could relegate Spurs in that game so expect it to be a battle. No reason why we can’t be still 2 points or better behind them going into the final match of the season when we play them at home.

Brighton. Aside from Chelsea they have the Mags away next weekend (Could they turn up for once?) and also need to go away to Leeds who are flying and Man Utd final game at home. I’d argue about the same as us in terms of difficulty.

Bournemouth. 3 games that could go either way with Leeds, Palace and Fulham next. But final 2 are hard with Man City and away at Forest final game when Forest might need to get something to stay up. I’d say slightly harder then ours just as most of those teams are around them then a tough last 2.

Everton. Looks quite tricky with 3 away games. Got to go away to teams battling to survive with West Ham and then Spurs final game. Palace away the other. Then aside from us they have Man City at home. Overall I’d definitely say tougher then our run in.

Obviously the game is not played on paper but I’d be very surprised to see Brentford finish above us with their 3 away games. I think we have the “easiest” (On paper) schedule to play relegation fighters with Forest at home and Wolves away who will be already down. Brighton would be the main one I look at and think their games are comparable to us and they are in good form. Get 10+ points and I think we stand a good chance of Europe.

Also only the teams above us I know that Palace and a few others are right in their as well.
Just wish we knew if the qualifying spots finished at 7th, or whether they'll go down to 8th possibly 9th ( unlikely).

If Man City win the FA cup then I think 6th and 7th place get Europa league and 8th would get Conference league spots.

I think Brighton have 6th sown up now. That leaves two spots being competed for by us, Chelsea, Bournemouth, Everton, Brentford and Fulham (at a push)

Bournemouth look the best placed with good form and fixtures.

Realistically I think we're competing for 8th place with the rest of that group.

The good news is Brentford have tough fixtures and they've not picked up a win in a while. Chelsea's form is atrocious they've played one fewer EPL game than the rest and potential FA fixtures congestion. Fulham have a few tough games coming up, middling form and have points to catch up.

That leaves us and Everton. We have to play them and Chelsea in the final two games. I think that may well decide things. Key thing for us is picking up at least one win from the next three before those games to still be in contension and make those games must wins. If we get two wins from the next three then we are right in it.

Having looked at the fixtures my predictions are -

Safc 57
B'mouth 56
Brighton 56
Brentford 54
Chelsea 52
Everton 51
Fulham 51

Of course, being Safc, we will probably go and get beat on Friday to fk things up 😊, but seriously, I'm very hopeful of going unbeaten til end of season.

By the time we play Everton and Chelsea, they'll be on the beach and any WC players won't be hoying themselves about to avoid injury.

Wolves are finished and again, any WC players will be "looking after themselves".

As for Man U, it baffles me how the feck they are third as they have glaring weaknesses and even the skunks battered them a few weeks back which says it all .

I'm hopeful of Europe, and absolutely trust the management team to have a squad ready to compete on the various fronts that MIGHT come to be next season🤞👍🤞.

Need Leeds to do Bournemouth tonight.

We can go ahead of Chelsea on Friday and still them to play at home.

Brentford have Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool away.

If Bournemouth don’t win tonight gives us a great opportunity along with Everton

The mags look unlikely to even pick up 4 points the way they are playing.

Wor Bruno is back though.

Although he's a bellend he does make a difference for them. He's good at winning free kicks and holding the ball up. I expect the Mags to pick up slightly. I think they'll finish below us though.

Changed my mind.. we need 12 points not 10 to get into Europe looking at the form table out of the last 5 .
4 wins out of 5 😳

12 more points to finish 8th?

I'm still hoping 8th is a Conference League place and 10 more points will get us somewhere near.

So many factors like other teams results so trying my best to focus on 1 game at a time but its hard not to look ahead too.

Beat Forest and then we have Relegated Wolves next. Not saying any game is easy but we have opportunities to get points if we play well.

So there will now definitely be 7 spots for Europe in the league (5/1/1) but if Man City win the FA Cup 8, (5/2/1)- if Chelsea win the FA Cup they need to be in the top 7 for 8th to qualify. No 8th if neither can it. Brighton beating Chelsea was a bad result.
8 in the league if Villa finish 5th and win the Europa. that means 6th place qualify for CL, 7th Europa, and 8th Conference.

It’s a long shot given how many teams are in the mix. As people are saying we need a very good end to the season probably 10 points from 5 games. If we do that and it’s not enough that’s still a brilliant effort.

Not sure where people are thinking we need 10/12 from and would still be outsiders.

Brentford have Man City, Man Utd and Liverpool away.

Chelsea don’t look like picking up many more points.

Assuming Brighton will get in now (Only 1 point ahead if we beat Forest) that still would leave Bournemouth and Everton.

Leeds getting something at Bournemouth tonight would go a long way
