Yoane Wissa.

Ultimately that was the result of trying to hang onto Isak when it was obvious the relationship had broken down. Selling earlier in the window would have given them more time to make a rational decision. We’ll face a similar situation given reported interest in some of our players but I suspect we’ll handle it far better than they did.
As me and other have said he was a replacement for Callum Wilson who was let go at the end of the season. He wasn't a panic buy. They were after him for a couple of months. The fee they eventually paid was the only panic part.
Some corrugated iron and half a set of strips.
Toss in a couple of old training balls and he's yours.

Just had a look at a YouTube compilation from his time at Brentford. Given that we’re very unlikely to start two strikers the solution to more goals probably lies in either a lot more from the wings and or a free scoring ACM. Alternatively a player like Wissa (not saying him in particular) can play left, right and centre. Worth a watch as to potentially the type of player we need.

Take a look at this video, 'yoane wissa brentford'

Was he injured when he got to the mags?
Arrived September 1 and made his first start December 6. Three months sounds like an injury spell. He’s either lost his touch or Eddie’s not using him in the best way. He can definitely score PL goals.

He’s having the same kind of season for exactly the same reasons as the player he replaced, Isak. No pre-season due to trying to force a move, long term injury and looking miles off the pace when they get back on the pitch.
If this correct it offers some hope. He could, with a period of rehabilitation, a decent WC / summer, become a player again.
There was certainly a good player there last season.

I’d be very interested to know whether there was any kind of relationship between Le Bris and Wissa while he was a player at L’Orient and Regis ran the B team.

That's exactly it, now the media are reporting for them that it was a panic buy, he was a player they wanted all summer. The lad effectively had 2 years left but they basically tried to bully Brentford into a fee that reflected one year left, they also got Wissa to force through the move .
They've got exactly what they deserve with this transfer
They then also forced him to not go to AFCON to repay them for his time out injured. Maybe if they'd allowed him to go and get 4/5 games under his belt he'd have came back a useful player

Straight swop deal would be the fairest solution.
Wissa to Sunderland and we take Brobbey, Sadiki or Roeffs. 😁

Not sure a club can force a player to miss International duty?

There was definitely something dodgy went on because we had Diarra in the exact same position and he went to AFCON unfit after months out but played later in the tournament.

There was talk of sweeteners to the Congo FA.

No, he was unfit but not injured. Very similar to Isak. They'd both missed most of pre-season because they'd gone on strike. Missa actually started training again just before he was sold then shortly after went away to play for the Congo and picked up an injury while he was playing for them.

He then spent 3 months or so injured and was fit again just before AFCON but for some dodgy reason didn't go.

Had a bad time this season. Terrible timing with the injury. Knows Noah from international footy, the right price would be a good by for us I reckon.

Regi likes and we were looking for a versatile forward who can play across the front. No reason why with a solid pre season he couldn’t hit double figures and have a good season next year

Apparently available for as little as £15m. Shocking bit of business by the mags but might be a bit of a bargain for someone else. Was it 20 PL goals he scored last season? I notice his time at L’Orient overlapped with Le Bris’ time there. In a different world (not currently a mag) I’d love to see him alongside Brobbey and I seem to recall him playing off the left occasionally at Brentford.
He had one good season getting 20,
normally struggled to hit double figures,
No surprise he has flopped, there be lucky to shift him, only top 4 can afford the wage the mags got him on plus 3 year left on his contract, approaching 30 got a felling he will sit it out there.

His stats are decent enough he played on the right loads for Brentford
