Yoane Wissa.

I would let you have Trippier for that 😁

Everything is amiss.
He has looked gash for sure. That said, when he is on the bench and Newcastle are trailing, they are not using him. Seems pointless even naming him as a substitute. There has, in my opinion, been a big falling out there.

All joking aside , he looked excellent for Brentford and his drop off has been ridiculous. I would probably have him at Sunderland for a hefty loan fee because there is clearly a player in there but I think he’d be too much of a risk to buy even at 15m.

That season is pretty much an anomaly. If you look more broadly he's a 10ish per season player. He's also 30 and massively reliant on pace. A truly dreadful use of 55m tbh.
I wonder if that big injury took a yard of pace off him and he's never going to be the same

Did the mags not think there was a rabbit away when they found out his nickname was Missa? 😉 😂

To even think for a second about signing a player who looks so shite would be off the scale of stupid without the rest of the baggage that comes with him.

Happilly he's the mags problem. And a very expensive one at that. Perhaps he can improve their under 21's as an overage player? Well if he can get in the team 🤣

I think the only way they recoup anything is after a loan spell, unless he somehow is a starter next season and performs.
Loan with an obligation after a certain number of games and/or goals. Assume Newcastle would have to pay a % of his wages as well.

Think you are being a bit harsh there like . We’ve got two forwards in Wilson and Mayenda who go from class to dog shit and back again . Wissa looked class last year , dog shit this but who says he couldn’t be decent again with the right coach and environment.
Anyway he’s not coming here so it’s a moot argument .

African, pushing 30, carrying injuries, shite form and on £140k a week? Has the Saudi / dubai league written all over it.
They are tightening their belts. I'm really not sure they'd be interested in an out of his depth dwarf who looks like he's signed from Borehamwood or some other southern non league outfit.

Was always a ridiculous signing really. 50m for him is outrageous. Their window last summer is one of the worst of all time.

I keep reading he was a panic buy, feels like they pursued him for the whole summer to me

Wise words, loan a no brainer. Obviously he needs to get away from the mags as Doris the tea lady nearly got on ahead of him at the weekend when you desperately needed a goal.

Beheaddie has quite obviously given up on him. The daft thing is he never even started against Qarabag at home when you were 6-1 up. Easy game, might have notched and got his confidence back? Howe started Osula.

£55M man, you would think it would guarantee you signed someone who looked like they'd played football before.

They did.

Wilson was already off on a free because he was a crock and they were down to one striker which was untenable. They were low balling Brentford and they were in a good spot as they'd already sold a couple of players for big cash to Man Utd and Arsenal.

They paid way over the odds certainly but they and him were always angling for the move for months.

Have you watched him play? He looks like Milton Nunez. Tiny and completely shit.

I think the mags have signed the wrong Wissa. Maybe someone is sunning themselves in a large villa in the Congo and a lookalike is standing in for him.

That's exactly it, now the media are reporting for them that it was a panic buy, he was a player they wanted all summer. The lad effectively had 2 years left but they basically tried to bully Brentford into a fee that reflected one year left, they also got Wissa to force through the move .
They've got exactly what they deserve with this transfer

Easily the worst signing in our entire history. I doubt we could even give him away considering no one would pay him anywhere near the wages he's on with us, reportedly £140k/wk. The only hope is that he has a good WC and some Saudi club is daft enough to offer half what we paid for him.

He's clearly gone to shit this season and I wouldn't want him here. But he did get a ton of goals last year, despite his size. He must have had the kind of knee injury the IRA used to provide.

I thought he was very good at Brentford.

But it looks like that injury either fucked him up or he doesn't give a fuck.

Both which would be a concern for any buyer.

Nail on head.

Beheaddie and his nephew targeted him for weeks and months and he went on strike to try to force a move. Brentford played hard ball because they didn't need to sell as Mbeumo had been sold for £65M and Norgaard for £10M.

They have absolutely rinsed the mags and have a far better striker knocking them in for fun 😂

He’s obviously a decent player.

But it will never not be funny that they spent £55m on a 29 year old with 1 year (iirc) left. And was injured.

Baffling shitting of the bed

Ultimately that was the result of trying to hang onto Isak when it was obvious the relationship had broken down. Selling earlier in the window would have given them more time to make a rational decision. We’ll face a similar situation given reported interest in some of our players but I suspect we’ll handle it far better than they did.
