The end of todays game

It’s not personal with you, dafty. I’ve been on here long enough to agree/disagree and argue with many.
Mind I would be lying if I didn’t say I chuckled at you saying “we all take the piss at the moaners” .
It might be an in the moment emotional response, but haway, you can’t deny, you are one of the biggest
Not true at all, just because I think O'nien isn't good enough?

I've defended the owner on here for years against abuse, same with Speakman. I said we would translate well to the PL under RLB and his style. I've sung the players of the recruitment team. I thought we would get something from the game today and have in nearly every game this season except probably arsenal and city away. I was defending the manager loads recently when we dipped and people wanted him out after port vale.

It really isn't true and judgements are clouded because I think O'Nien is a bombscare in the PL. Everything about the club is the best i've seen it.

Even this thread has been hijacked as me being negative and angry... the only thing im saying is it feels like the Millwall game when we missed a last minute 1 on 1 and they went and won it.

Yet its turned into pages of abuse.
Like you say, odd. Coming home from Burnley I was just like “meh” because we were shit from start to finish. Today it was there for us to get summit and we fluffed it, that hurts more for me.

Still looking forward to Friday tho. Will feel like a quick turnaround and it’s our end of season doo so a good night out.
Mate, help me with what is odd?

I'm literally just posting that its very similar to the Millwall game that was a sucker punch and left me gutted.

I'm still on the train home and it's the least upset I've ever been about a defeat.

Funny the different way people react

I thought it was a class game, and the fact that we were within a fanny hair of winning makes me happy .

I've seen us lose away at Cheltenham, Shrewsbury, Wycombe , Lincoln... I'm not gonna give a shit about this result

I think people struggle to differentiate between the manner of a defeat and the magnitude of a defeat.

Today we lost last minute to a Champions League side away from home. We should hold our heads high.
Never said we haven't had worse days  just that it felt like a big kick ij the bolloxks and the games you mentioned are more than 3 years ago.

Of course i felt worse after them ffs

Nah its more the fact that one action away from potentially sitting 6th with 3 home games in our last 5.

That one attack has dropped us to 11th.

Eh? Who is angry? I'm just gutted because we were a 1 on 1 away from 6th.

It hasn't dropped us because were never in 6th.

We've enjoyed so many late winners and we've had more than we'd ever hope for.

I'm so proud of their resilience to get back to 3-3. Watching the score updates on my phone expecting it to end 3-1, and boom, 3-3. Wow, when before this season would that have happened.

It's then mental that we very nearly won it. So we lost, but what a display of resilience.

Flashbacks to Millwall away under Mowbray but on a worse scale. About to win it to then lose it.

Worst feeling after a game since Luton 3 years ago at least.
I know what you mean marra. I think it was a culmination of a few things. We had been down and out at 3-1. Pulled it back level amazingly to 3-3. And should have won it really with Diarra. That sucker punch straight after from from Villa just embodied the absolute roller coaster of emotions we went through.

What a game.

Shame we couldn't draw/win it but happy overall. A lot to work on from RLB but some real positives to take away.

Isn't that what I'm doing? I obviously haven't wrote it well enough as people seem to just be misunderstanding it.

The fact we got so close and lost it in that fashion is what made it so gutting, being that close to 6th in the league.

My own mistake, he said “funny the way people react”, and I should’ve said “like you said, funny”.

I was agreeing with the post I replied to, in that everyone reacts to it differently. I was at arsenal and saw us lose 5-1 and felt proud, we’ve came on a million miles since then and I’m en route home feeling pissed off.

You've said it's the worst feeling for three years. You're focusing far more on the manner than the magnitude.

Just in terms of being gutted after a game. Since that Luton play off we haven't had any big disappointments. It reminded me of the Millwall game that ended similar.

Seems like people have took it as the worst i've felt about the club in years for some strange reason. Don't get it.

The manner of the defeat feels like you’ve been kicked in the balls by Roberto Carlos, the magnitude is probably the most “loseable” game we had left. Away from home, against a cracking team. No shame in losing at Villa Park this season.

A really good point you make.

Similar that my point was the way we lost was gutting. Would have been easier to lose 3-1 without the hope

What Millwall game we on about?

I’m purely disappointed that we never got the absolute pandemonium that would have followed should diarra had scored

Aye same😂 which is daft, cos us negative Nellie’s would be on here worrying we’d wrapped in and the players didn’t care about Europe.

In the ground before the match it’s all anyone was talking about. “Win today we go 6th” etc etc.

We weren’t good enough today in general, especially defensively. But despite being poor; and coming that close to winning, yet losing, it’s a real sucker punch.

Not for me or all the other Sunderland fans I've spoke to tonight. The general consensus was that it was a kick in the balls as all last minute defeats are however you can't fault the attitude of the players and you have to admire the way we matched them for most of the game
