Cov Promotion - A new perspective on an old topic

Are we in a position to invest again this summer, before any sales happen? I seen our revenues were one of thr lowest in the leagues this season

Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see our first game next season to be away at Coventry.

I also think Doug King might be gilding the Lilly a tad when he says they aren’t going to spend big.

My guess is they’ll spend all they can within their budgetary constraints.

As with all promoted sides it’ll be how they spend it that will determine their fate.
Clip of that Doug King, love to take a chainsaw to that hair.

Lampard just expected us to roll over for him. Media were right up his hoop about how wonderful he is and how his team were destined for promotion. How dare we spoil his moment and go against the narrative
absolutely beautiful wasn’t it

The Cov fan I work with never fails to mention how lucky we’re were against them and Sheff Utd.
The silly arses gifted us the first round tie 1 -2 at their own ground and in front of their own crowd of 30,000. That left us only needing to draw at home to make it the the final.

It's a no brainer - few teams stand much of a chance of progressing to the final after doing that.

Anway as we have set the (current) bar for new arrivals in the Premier League let's see just how well Coventry are doing at this stage next season. No doubt they will have a European spot already sewn up .

Perspective is really just the first Championship winners since Wolves in 17/18 to win after not having parachute payments, as Wolves had been out of the top flight for 6 season when they won it. But not long before that Bournmouth won it without ever having been in the top flight, and Leicester won it after a long spell out of the top flight not long before then too.

Still feels like fewer and fewer Championship players make the step up.

I know many on here have no love for Coventry, but the fan I watched the playoffs semi with in paphos with last year was dead sound, and very magnanimous even after the Ballard goal and me and another MLF squeeling like school girls and jumping around the bar, so I’m actually glad for them.

But the point I came to make, was that at one point when we were in doldrums of league one, I remember looking enviously up the pyramid at Cov, with them having flown the nest and competing for the playoffs in the championship, and I remember dreaming about how one day that could be us again.

Well, they’ve done it and got promoted, and they’ve done it in a reasonable timeframe too for a team that’s worked its way up from league one. But look how far ahead of them we are now.

If you’d have told me back then, that we would be mid table in the prem this year, having taken 6 points off the mags, I wouldn’t have believed you. There is nothing you could have told me that would have made me believe you.

It’s absolutely mental how well KLD, and the team have done.

Thank you once again from all those involved, these last few years have been ace!

So the point of this is?? You’ve been on holiday at least once 😳

I can't see it now. Not after the injury. A shame because he should have been starting for England but has been very unlucky with injuries.
Only takes one performance for this stupid teams and for Sky to start branding him as a world beater again. Spurs go down, he scores a free kick last game and guarantee all the narrative will be about how they 100% would have stayed up with Maddison and how he’s a hero.

They have followed the Sunderland model. Get promoted without spending huge sums on championship players who are no good in the Prem

The question is whether the board will take advantage of that they way KLD did, and whether their scouting networks are good enough to spend money wisely

Outside of clubs with parachute money, Coventry are by far the biggest spenders in the Championship over the last few seasons combined.

It always gets overlooked but with the money they have spent, they'd want to be seriously challenging for promotion every season!

They are the antitheses of how we managed to get promoted.
