Legends Way fan vote: choose the 14 legends

I appreciate not everyone is into the history of SAFC, but the absence of the following names from this makes it a bit of a farce really.

James Allan, Johnny Campbell, Arthur Bridget, George Holley, Bobby Gurney, Charlie Buchan, Tom Watson, Ned Doug, Sandy McAlister, Dave Halliday and Johnny Mapson.

Been thinking about this, and I wonder if the club will have new inductees to this somehow like they do with American sports Hall of Fame.

I could be crediting the club with far too much here, but maybe they’re looking to get maximum exposure/maximum media interest in the short-term and then likes of those above (and Jimmy Thorpe who another poster mentioned) will be inducted in time.

I must admit, I'm a bit bewildered at some of these 14 names. It makes it look like we are short of genuine legends when in reality, we aren't. I can't believe Bobby Gurney didn't make the list for example.

Bobby Gurney not making the list is absolutely scandalous and shows the process and outcome is a complete shit show.
Can only hope someone at the club sees sense and has the balls to call for a reset.

To call her a club legend seems far fetched. Most of her successes have been away from SAFC and while shes vocally proud of club and city, I dont think that qualifies you to be on the SAFC legends list purely because of your gender.

Im all for having female players on the list and recognised. But I dont think shes the best choice.

I’ve contributed more to SAFC in my lifetime than Jill and I’ve never set foot on the grass.

She’s a great lass, a brilliant ambassador for the city and club. Recognition for these things as a top fan is one thing, but recognition for football achievements at the club …. Someone’s having a laugh .

They are just trying to put a bit of history/memory/positivity in the area, like they've done with all the flags to lampposts of memorable moments on the way to the match. They've got Kone on one of them cos he scored against Everton to keep us up for example. Not exactly legendary but a piece of our history that was positive. That is the theme of all this imo.

Some of the 14 weren’t on the original list. And for Bobby Gurney not to make it is scandalous. Yes these things tend to be recent centric as younger fans in particular vote about what they know and have seen. But unfortunately such a great idea has backfired spectacularly I’m afraid.
 
Only way this works out is if they have a selection of in house choices along side a fan vote, so clear obvious legends arent overlooked,so 14 fan votes plus x amount of legends they select. But I doubt it

Scored 34 premier league goals which is nearly as many appearances as Scott had and must be our 3rd highest scorer ever ?

Yeah I’ve only just noticed it, this all seems like a modern thing where the pr team have to constantly keep coming up with ideas and this is the latest, contrived, meaningless bollocks, can’t even get a proper list of players

anyone under 20 couldn’t care less about players off years ago, even Defoe is almost a distant memory but least he scored goals in prem,
