We met some Austrians, sounds as a pound and very friendly, when I was in Dortmund for EM in 24. My mates from Dortmund, after these lads had moved on, were trying to explain how it the dialect they spoke was "Bauernhof Deutsch". Meanwhile my cousin and me had sort of narrowed it down to something like a West Country style drawl being the English equivalent and showed them the Wurzels on YouTube. The Dortmund jungs thought that was hilarious.I’m on the border. Ö is basically my dialect
Similar thing with the Swiss we met during 06 WM in Dortmund. At that point my German was limited to "Zwei bier bitte!", but even I knew listening to my friends speaking to them it was German "but not as we know it".
