Luke O'Nien

There can’t have been many players gone from league one to championship have there?
Chat GPT says 13 from 5 clubs have made league appearances in L1/Champ/PL with the same club, but it also says we have none so not sure how accurate it is!

He’s also played L2, L1, Championship and PL - Chat GPT reckons there’s 18 players who have done that in the PL era when you exclude loan moves.

So you are using a dodgy back pass where he was clearly shoved to back your argument up about him not being good enough and you’ve got the cheek to say what an intelligent reply?

The best centre backs in the world make mistakes at times. Onien has been outstanding when called upon this season. If you think otherwise you’ve clearly got an agenda against the lad.
Ive never once denied hes done well if you check my past comments. Although ill still stick to what ive said before and can be a liability. Quite worrying how some people are acting on here over him. Going right over the top.

You missed out talking SHITE
Point out the bits where he's talking shite. O'Nien has surprised most people managing to step up to be a squad member of a premier team but thats his limit. I worried about him in the Champuonship so fair play to the lad.
As the OP said it would be nice if he's brought into the coaching staff further down the line as if you ever listen to him he's quite a level headed intelligent young man.

Wonder how many have also done Champions League..

Come on Lukey boy.. score the goal against Chelsea that gets us into the big one 👀

Without ChatGPT I know that only Steve Finnan and Antoine Semenyo have played in all 4 divisions, the conference and the Champions League. Plus Gary Hooper has done all 4 divisions and the Champions League (although his CL appearances were with Celtic).

Chat GPT has also given me David James, Peter Crouch and Rickie Lambert as players who’ve played all 4 divisions plus the. Champions League but it is currently arguing with me that Antoine Semenyo has never played for Man City 😂

ChatGPT also thinks you spell December with an X, cannot count past 3, thinks there are only 2 R's in Strawberry and more.

This is true mind. Any criticism even when it's deserved is met with resistance
That is because there are the usual suspects just waiting to post with glee anytime he makes a mistake, or just blame him for anything they can.
Omar has had plenty of aberrations this season but doesn't have his own personal troll team waiting in the wings.

For the record I wouldn't have started him last Sunday, three points later (again) however.

I will say it as it happened, the referee clearly pointed at O'Nien and motioned with his knee. So I'll continue to say it and be correct 👍
The referee should have a mic so he can talk to the VAR team and tell them what he's given a pen for, so that they don't rule against him on a totally different player.
Why are we still talking about a none event

It wasnt a penalty we move on

Rest of the game and before the none penalty he never put a foot wrong and had a great game
Because it could have been a penalty.
The ref gave it against 09 but told the VAR team it was against Alderete for some reason.
If 09 had fouled the player it would have been a pen. If he had kneed him in the face after he'd also have got a red card.
😜

When Omar makes a mistake people call him out for it. When O'Nien makes a mistake there's people willing to make excuses for it. I mean a couple of seasons ago he was getting praised for a deliberate hand ball against Watford that was caused by him ball watching . Great lad , good player but for some even when criticism is warranted they simply can't do it.

Interesting from Jamie Carragher saying he feels Luke and Alderete have a better working dynamic than Ballard and Alderete and that Le Bris should find a way to use all 3.

The facts don't lie like, we haven't lost a game where Luke has started.

You are confusing people defending him against trolls imo, you don't see threads demanding Omar is not good enough every time he makes a mistake, of which there are many.
The sad truth is, there are people on this forum who would rather see us fail than be proved wrong.
Not that same folk would ever admit to being wrong of course, Trumplike delusion some folk.

No I'm not. I get there's people who troll but there are some who can't accept criticism. The lad last season admitted he fked up which lead to Hume being sent off , there was still people on here saying he wasn't at fault. Even the Newcastle goal this season some tried to blame the keeper, some even blamed Xhaka for pointing.
Tbf I've done it as well. I was sticking up for him for the Leeds game where, let's be honest, he should have given a penalty away. I was saying it wasn't at the time

As I say he's a great lad , a good player and huge credit to himself and the club but he isn't beyond criticism
