We still have to operate within the financial rules bud. There is absolutely no chance we could ever afford a player like Dembele.

We had no right whatsoever to get Xhaka last summer. We were favourites to finish bottom of the league by pretty much everyone, yet somehow KLD got him over the line.

I'm not saying we are going to sign Dembele, but if KLD thought there was a chance of signing his good mate, then I think he'd make it happen.

I don’t disagree about Xhaka mate and I agree that as KLD and Dembele are friends, KLD may have some influence.

Unfortunately though, from a cost point of view, any deal is simply beyond us.

As he is under contract until 2028, PSG would want at least £150m from him. The player would then expect £15m+ signing fee and a basic contract of at least c£25m a season for 4 years.

In fact, by the time you take into consideration bonuses and the other bits he will expect, you are probably looking at £30m a season

Very few clubs in Europe could afford that. The only way we could realistically is if (i) we qualify for the CL and (ii) we land substantial sponsorship deals which are close to what the top clubs get.

Luke o’nien got hauled off at half time after an anonymous midfield performance in our league one opener 8 years ago and has just kept a clean sheet playing centre back in the premier league for spurs. Nostradamus couldn’t predict the future of this club.

This but I genuinely wouldn't be shocked to see another top name come in that has gone under the radar.
With our league position, we have been given the luxury of planning for next season in the premier league so I hope the club have had time to do their research and start to put wheels in motion.
Would not be shocked if we announced a couple of early players before the world cup, if that's what we have identified
A couple of decent matches in a world cup and players values nearly double
 
Aye the current Ballon d'Or holder who if you are to believe reports recently demanded a million quid a week and is in his absolute prime is going to rock up at the club cos he's mates with Kyril :lol:

All I'm saying is that the club have done things far beyond our expectations already, and they've only just come up. You can't really say for sure you know what they can and can't do tbh.

I think it's very feasible to say that big sponsorship deals will be following to help us with the financial backing needed. I wouldn't be surprised if Hummel's contract gets cut short due to the poor return. I think it's the lowest shirt sponsorship deal in the PL, so that will no doubt get looked at.

I get what you are saying about Dembele, and like I've said already, I doubt we'd get him, but with what's happened already and our boards contacts in the game, nothing should really surprise us if we read about big names being linked, as they could be some plausible interest on our part.
