Drinking in Sunderland City Centre - restored

Just saw a Daily Express article about the the closure of the WJ. It implies it’s been a public for over 100 years.

“And there are plenty of people both shocked and gutted that The William Jameson is going. Dating back to the 19th century, the pub is named after William Jameson, the man responsible for laying out Sunderland's famous Fawcett Street for the Fawcett family.”

I thought it used to be Binns. Was there a pub there before Spoons?
AI generated shite journalism like all these click bait articles
Will be making out further example of Rachel reeves destroying pubs
Just to get the angry people angry
It was an article on British Pubs on Facebook. Not my usual read. 🤣
There must be reaching a point now where’s there’s more duff info out there than good

Called out after work for a couple unplanned yesterday.

Keel tavern first, I do under appreciate this pub because whenever I'm in (not very often) I absolutely love the place.

Afterwards I made the mistake of calling into The Vault Yard, first time in for a good few months and it's an utterly depressing place.

Sisters and nieces were attacked outside cooper rose Friday night around midnight by a random woman, thanks to the lads who got her off them who were passing. They were a bit shocked/ shook up but ok now

The new landlord is one of them gadgies who leaves a trail of debt everywhere he goes, will give it a year max.
Last weekend the idiot new Landlord told a lad that has been drinking in there for 25 years he did not want any locals in as he wanted a different crowd in the pub under his management. He certainly got his wish as all the locals who have drank there for years are avoiding the place and are going into the Gardeners which has recently been refurbished and a much better pub.

Shocking behaviour that mind, I do know of him. Drinks in the Ashbrooke.

The locals will have kept the place going for years. Judging by his live it was all young uns in there last night.

Won’t last two mins. Had a few city centre bars. One high profile case if you google.

Will always be a local's pub. There was a time many moons ago when it was a Vaux training pub and worth a visit as the beer was top notch but there's never been a reason to visit since.
Like The Free Gardener's, you wouldn't know it existed unless you were local or horribly lost.
