Forthcoming gigs.

We were a bit disappointed like. He was fine, the band were fine, but the set was canny boring like. Not enough hits, n some of the newers ones were dull.

We saw people walking out, our lass overhead lasses in the toilet talking about sacking it off for the pub, and I've never seen a standing crowd down the front look so lifeless so long periods of the gig. Spoke to a couple of people afterwards who felt the same, and the comment sections on Facebook were full of similar comments Sunday morning. Bit of a shame.

I admit I'm a casual fan like, and I knew they can be like that - dicking about with setlists, not playing the hits. They didn't play Laid on Friday night, so I thought well surely they must Saturday. I'd have been fuming if they hadn't mind. I was thinking Sit Down would be dropped as well as they left it 'til later in the set, but gladly it survived.

My first time seeing them after quite fancying it for a long time, but I don't think I'd bother again.

Their biggest arena tour, tied in with a greatest hits package, but it was more for the die hards.

PS... the sound for the opener Come Home (one I do kna!) was possibly the poorest sound mix I've heard from a headliner in that arena, and I'm a big fan of the venue. They'd sorted it as the night went on though.

PPS... The Doves were dreadful. But I knew that anyway. They exceeded my expectations of just how dreadful they could be though. Bad.
Never got the hype back in the day or now . Agree on Doves too
Clearly they're well liked just don't get it . The hits used to kill me in Ku Club

Tickets for Mandra Salach attained today @Town End Farmer Giles. Anybody interested I’d suggest getting in asap cos it looks nearly sold out. Dice was sold out, Ticketmaster wouldn’t let me get 4, Gigs & Tours came up trumps. I’m guessing a handful left going off that.

It's a busy one for me next week.
Monday - Alex Spencer supporting The Guest List at The Ferret in Preston.
Wednesday - Rianne Downey at Bootleg Social in Blackpool.
Saturday - Seb Lowe at Liverpool Academy.
Still haven’t got round to seeing Seb Lowe, but he comes on my Spotify semi-regularly cos of your recommendation. Played up here late last year but I could get there.

I missed him on that tour as well. He tends to do shortish tours so doesn’t go to every area on a given tour.
Alex Spencer has been playing arenas in Europe with Louis Tomlinson but he will be back to more familiar surroundings on Monday night.

Anyone else at James last night at the Arena? Acoustics awful as usual and I'd be loathe to go back there for a gig (and bar prices outrageous) but a typically energetic and uplifting set from the band with a good mix of songs and thoroughly enjoyable overall. Doves were pretty poor IMO but no surprise there and again to be fair hindered by the sound quality in the soulless shed.

£9.25 a pint!
We were right down the front for Doves and thought they were good. Not as good as the boiler shop last year though.
First time seeing James and thought they were excellent.

Hate that arena though
