James Trafford as replacement for Roefs?

If we sell roefs Trafford would be a great replacement no doubt about it.
He’d probably cost more than we’ll get for Roefs and I’d imagine he’ll have better suitors than Sunderland
Trafford is better than Donnarumma imo. Enrique saw his limitations, surprised Man City went for him.
Probably the best shot stopper in the world donnarumma tbf like but he’s hopeless with his feet which is why he got rid

Yes but he won't
I quite like him due to my secret admiration for nutters and arseholes

Bit unfair. Actually think he comes over well when interviewed tbh

Obviously wants to leave City for first team football, been linked away for £27m this week. Would he be a decent option to spend a chunk of the Roefs money on

Would be home gown, only 23 year old, and obviously PL experience. There’s a reason City and the Mags wanted him last summer.

Presume we’d have to fight with a few PL clubs, including the mags?, but not sure any of the big champions league sides will be after him so could come down to wages and where he sees the club going.

Could have Elborg as back up with the opportunity to really grow and learn for a season or two.
Why is everyone so keen to sell Roefs? Don’t underestimate the challenge of season 2 in the PL… he’s under a long contract.. pivotal player. Remember our last exit from PL?

No at all having a go and no offense - but I think personally anyone that thinks we can keep him is absolutely mad. You're as deluded as the Mags last summer with Isak. He'll deffo be off, and that's the way of the world.

Said as much in couple of posts earlier in the week , if we lose Roefes pick him up and pocket £20m to use on a RW.
Hes a shit house but he'd be our shit house and it would piss the Mags off no end .
I could see him liking our buzz.
I don’t rate him and I don’t think he would fit our style.

A key to our success has been how fluid we are passing the ball around the back, and I don’t think Trafford fits into that, it’s one of the main reasons I feel that they peddled Patto.

In an ideal world, RLB wants the CB taking the GK to RR, the centre backs then split which beats the press as one striker can’t block a pass to the left and to the right simultaneously. RR plays to the open CB, then as they are pressed, that leaves either the FB or Xhaka open for the CB to pass to as it is typically their marker leaving their man to press, and FB/Xhaka is then afforded enough space to move the ball forward.

We repeat those triangles from open play all the time too, and I don’t see Trafford fitting in with that personally.

He may be a decent shot stopper, but I’d rather have a slightly worse shot stopper who can move the ball better, as it will result in fewer shots needing to be saved anyway if we can cycle the ball around the pitch and away from goal cleanly.

Is he that bad with his feet ?

Mags and Spurs linked form what I can see. Obviously bigger commercially, but nowhere near Champions League (or even europe hopefully) next season.
Turned down the mags already, few mags I have spoken to dont want him for that reason. No second chance with the mags, you either want to play for them or not.

It’s not so much that he’s ’bad’ with his feet, but he’s not good enough with his feet.

Fuck me, it’s gunna be slim picking for them this window, after the last summer then! Just about every player they went for turned them down

Id take the odd kick to touch in exchange for an extra stopped shot mind .
If RR does go we deffo need a new number one though , Ellborg is not it yet . In fact I'd like to see him get a top champo loan next year where he has a bit to do
