30,000+ season tickets sold

The club said before the season total was 41,000 including corporate.
"There has also been increased demand for tickets. North of 30,000 season cards were sold before the Wembley victory and the limits were reached within 48 hours of being placed on sale in June. With corporate hospitality offerings taking season-ticket holders to 41,000 and Michelin star chef Tommy Banks now overseeing high-end food on site, it is the first time since the capacity of the Stadium of Light was increased in 2000 that supply cannot meet demand."

What are the numbers then?
I don't know any more than you do, but I know there wasn't 41K ST holders (as per the post I quoted) in the Championship season where the average attendance was 40,700

Are you talking about a different season?

Im talking about this season. Last season we had around 34,000 after half season ticket sales as per the ticket tracker.

Agree, I know it’s a small sample but all the faces around me in the South Stand in every direction for a good couple of rows are the same faces who’ve been there for years, including all the League One years and double relegation. It’s the same where me dad sits in the North East Corner as well, in fact quite a few there (my Dad being one) have been in the exact same seats since the stadium opened. I used to sit with him but gravitated towards the South West Corner and then South Stand (via a brief stint in the NWC).

I know several exiles who normally make it to around 6 or 7 home games a season who are now all on the waiting list. The ability to pass your ticket to family and friends (or resale) means that it would be easier for them to buy a season ticket rather than go through the challenge of buying tickets for individual matches.

This in turn wouldn’t do our fanbase any harm. Someone getting to matches rather than watching on tv, and then recycling it to friends who also get to go - it all adds up to gradual expansion of demand, which could only be met by then expanding the ground.
This is it for me. I live in London and it’s £60 ish to get up for a home game when I’m not in Yorkshire. I’ve had SCs before, but had to give it up when it got too expensive for something I’d rarely use.

But my brother and I are on the waiting list. I’m planning on getting a season ticket and selling it back to the club for a massive chunk of the season (and pass on the rest to mates/ family). So that the season after it’ll be a bit cheaper (and so on).

I just want a guaranteed seat for Mags, New Years game, Boxing Day, and a few others. Also obviously a possibility of Europe in the future etc. As well as a chance to build away points, since they’re like gold dust these days and you can’t ask for spares on here anymore.

Good for the club, they get my guaranteed income up front, then can sell on my ticket for a profit each week. Good for me, as I get what I want - but also get that sense of identity back.

Will end up being a rule coming in at some point about only selling it x amount of times a season. Guarantee it, same as a the membership schemes.

All a matter of time

They don’t have that at other clubs? I know people at two clubs who sell on their ticket for literally every match.

Why would the club care. They make a tenner of profit every time a tickets sold on their platform and if it wasn’t sold, then they haven’t lost anything (as they still have the SC money)

The mags for example, it’s you have to use the ticket 15 times a season - but “using” includes putting it on their portal for resale.

Matter of time until our fans have meltdowns over being on the season ticket waiting list while others have one and don't go.

If this season so far has taught us anything, its that everybody wants their cake and to eat it.
