The SMB 2026 Holiday Thread

I've wanted to go there for years. Where are you flying from?
Heathrow direct to Ponta Delgada on BA. I don’t think the flights are daily though.

It was a lot cheaper to go TAP via Lisbon and daily flights, but would have arrived around midnight rather than late afternoon.

Going back we are using TAP via Lisbon as we are finishing off on one of the smaller islands and from there can only fly to Lisbon.

We are booked in to a 5 star all incl hotel in wait for it………… Sharm el Sheik next week.
Hope we come back.

I'm doing a similar thing in the summer, travelling to a few different places in Spain via the train.
Shove driving for a lark.

Good plan. At some point I'd like to spend a few weeks doing Spain by train (letting it take the strain). Plenty of the smaller cities I haven't been to yet.

Fancy some winter sun for a few days in January / February if anyone has any recommendations? Just sitting and reading in a quiet place with a couple drinks and some nice food is enough. I assume the Canary Islands. Flying from Newcastle or Leeds Bradford.

Can't really go wrong with the Canaries but Jan/Feb is always a busy time of year there especially with the retired. Plenty of quieter parts though once you get out of the main resorts.

Cruise to Corsica, Sardinia, Rome, Naples & Palamos in June.

Stag do to Dusseldorf in October

That’s it for this year due to Daughters wedding
Marrakesh
Rome and surrounding areas for two weeks
Cyprus for a wedding

Never been to Marrakesh or Cyprus
Looking forward to all 3

Also went to Cervinia skiing in January which i forgot

Went to Marrakech a couple of months ago and had no idea what to expect.
Absolutely loved it

Done weekend city breaks to Cologne, Krakow, Wroclaw and Poznan so far this year

Off to Kyrgyzstan/Uzbekistan for 2 weeks in a fortnight.

Baku/Istanbul for 4 days after.

Budapest for the F1 in July
Just came back from Poznan, brilliant city break. Reminded me of Krakow 10 years ago, rough and ready and not many tourists.

I’ve done Madrid to Zaragoza and then to Barcelona all via the high speed train, it was really straight forward and much cheaper than the trains over here.

Also got the train up to Benicassim, but that was from Valencia and more of a local train.

They’ve got it sussed over there

Agree. The old town, Stary Browar, Cathedral Island and the humongous shopping centre were the highlights for me!
Much better than when I've previously visited as only flew in and done 1 day/night.

Stary Browar was great Saturday when the weather wasn't too good on the morning. Cheap as chips too. 12pln (£2.50) for a lech pils right on the square.

I want to do Gijon and Oviedo. Just trying to find a decent way of doing it.

I've done the same thing but the other way round, from Barcelona to Madrid. Was only a few quid extra to go first class anarl. Great scenery going through Zaragoza.
