Ross Stewart

REad my post again snowflake, what did I say that wasn't factual? It was good business whatever way ypu look at it.

We struggled to replace him, but eventually did with Isidor who was more than decent foe us last year.
So your saying that we should wish all players that leave us for money well, because there's a chance that they might get injured for their new team and not play much?
Wtaf?

Catching up on podcasts from the last few days, I found this comment by Barry Glendenning odd.

“I was delighted for Ross Stewart, the Loch Ness drogba, he’s a former Sunderland player who didn’t really get a chance, his Sunderland career was sort of ruined by injury but the club made a nice few quid on him when they sold him to Southampton”

Yes he had his injury issues here but it seems insane to say he didn’t really get a chance, and his time here was ruined by injury
Glendenning's an idiot. Was by far the worst thing about the Football Weekly podcast when I listened to it back in the day.

To think that he was back up to Charlie Wyke. 🤣
Not strictly accurate, nor laughable.

Stewart came in during the 2021 January window. He was injured when he arrived and wasn't available for the subsequent 11 games. The first squad he made was for the ELF Trophy final on 14th March.
By that point, Wyke had scored 26 goals in 32 starts, so no striker was going to come in and replace him at that stage.
For the rest of that season, Stewart made 3 starts and 9 sub appearances, scoring 3 goals. Wyke scored a further 5 goals in 14 games

For his build, to come back each time after injury and still look as sharp is impressive tbh. Watched him the last two games and looks exactly the player that was in his best form at us.

Hell of a run of games for Saints. Can you rest players for an FA cup semi final you’re likely to be well beaten in, being mindful of a crucial league game against Ipswich on Tuesday next week?!

Lost a player we'd nursed back to fitness to a smaller club, lower down in the league. Then played without a striker for years.
Smb: "I hope he does well xxx"
We will have snapped their hand off when they offered 10 million, we would have been mental not to.

He left because Southampton were a much better prospect than us at the time. He became a PL player. You can't really fault him for it. It's not his fault we decided Rusyn was the man to replace him- the club was desperate to bring him in.
