Forthcoming gigs.

We were a bit disappointed like. He was fine, the band were fine, but the set was canny boring like. Not enough hits, n some of the newers ones were dull.

We saw people walking out, our lass overhead lasses in the toilet talking about sacking it off for the pub, and I've never seen a standing crowd down the front look so lifeless so long periods of the gig. Spoke to a couple of people afterwards who felt the same, and the comment sections on Facebook were full of similar comments Sunday morning. Bit of a shame.

I admit I'm a casual fan like, and I knew they can be like that - dicking about with setlists, not playing the hits. They didn't play Laid on Friday night, so I thought well surely they must Saturday. I'd have been fuming if they hadn't mind. I was thinking Sit Down would be dropped as well as they left it 'til later in the set, but gladly it survived.

My first time seeing them after quite fancying it for a long time, but I don't think I'd bother again.

Their biggest arena tour, tied in with a greatest hits package, but it was more for the die hards.

PS... the sound for the opener Come Home (one I do kna!) was possibly the poorest sound mix I've heard from a headliner in that arena, and I'm a big fan of the venue. They'd sorted it as the night went on though.

PPS... The Doves were dreadful. But I knew that anyway. They exceeded my expectations of just how dreadful they could be though. Bad.
I was down the front and my knees are still letting me know 😂
Was standing in brum too and they were more boisterous there but I enjoyed having a bit more room around me at Leeds and I was probably 6 rows from the front.
I thought the set list was great, loads of hits and new song Nantucket is really good. I’ve seen them a lot over the last few years (3 times this last week) and to me they just keep getting better.
Bit sad I can’t see them again in the summer.
I also really liked Doves.

 Aye, well like I said, maybe one more for the die-hards.

Maybe if they could have squeezed Tomorrow and She's A Star (can't believe they don't always play that) in there I'd have come away a bit happier.

5 songs between Ring The Bells and Runaground, and it was just flat. Then they stuck that Nantucket in the middle of next few songs, and it went on forever. That dark haired lass seemed a bit too involved by that point.

Then another 4 songs in between Say Something and Sit Down... it was if they'd completely lost people by that point.

I dinnar. I know they've got a lot of songs and new stuff to play, but for ya biggest arena tour, and I'm sure they billed it as a hits tour .... play your hits.

I had to laugh when he made the comment about blokes going out for a beer as he introduced Nantucket. I stuck around for a long while n gave it a listen, and then I went on got a beer (and a piss before it). And then I came back, and they were still bloody going!

I’ve heard Nantucket 3 times now so it’s grown on me. They had another new one called yeah yeah yeah which Tim said at Bristol it would be our new favourite song 🤔 they gave it another go in brum then dropped it thankfully.
We got She’s a Star on Fri but not to fussed about that one after John Lewis got hold of it.

Seen him supporting Oasis in the summer. It was obviously a very carefully selected setlist where each song was a bigger singalong than the last. It did mean the start was a bit slow, but the end was top notch.
Ah nice one, that's kind of how we ended up going, my partner's son saw Oasis in the summer and liked Richard Ashcroft so we got tickets. I thought The Verve were great but wasn't as sure on some of his solo stuff but it all sounded spot on last night 👍

I thought they were great anarl SC. Wish they'd drop Sometimes and Sit Down mind, they always play them to keep the likes of Chris happy

Courtney Barnett is coming back to the NE in October for those who didn't get tickets for Independent, or those, like meself, who did but who will be ready for more by then. Playing Hall 1 in the Glasshouse though which I'm as surprised by as I was by her playing Independent.

Artist's pre-sale is on now, Glasshouse members tomorrow, General sale on Friday.

Very tempted as she was superb at Indie. What's the best seats at the Glasshouse? Trying to figure out which pricing option to suggest when I text me mate but cant tie back the options available to a seating plan I found.

Well, there's no 'restricted views' unless you're shortsighted and the sound is superb wherever you are.

Last time I was there I was in the front row which was a mistake as it was a bit TOO close - there was a full orchestra on stage with the band and I couldn't see half of them. Went for Row F this time. I also like the sides on Level 2 - there's only 2 rows, low numbers are close to the stage.
Front & Centre of L1 are about £45, rest are about £36.

Sold out predictably rapidly! Had to buy the CD bundle but still a good deal!

Did anybody else do this and, if so, have you had your CD yet? I'd forgotten all about it but been listening to the record on Spotify since before the gig.

People going tonight at the Arena? Last time was the orchestral thing a couple of years ago at City Hall and enjoyed that but looking forward to a proper gig from them. Not looking forward to it being at the Arena though 🤮.

Nest one for me is a Stones tribute at the Fire Station. Steve Craddock in Durham, which is a talk/few songs type of format, same with John Power 10 days later. Next originals, is Michael Head at the Grove.

Next week ive got Florence Black, brilliant rock band btw, at Independent on Monday, then the mighty Ist Ist at the Grove on Thursday, fantastic post punk band from Manchester.

Jim Jones Allstars outstanding at the Cluny last night - a great 8 piece band with so much energy and attitude. Loved it.
forgot they were on - bugger - saw then supporting the Black Crowes

Robert Jon and the Wreck this week on Wednesday at Wylam Brewery and Brave Rival at the Cluny on Thursday - busy week!!!
