Running Thread 2026

Managed to get along to Riverside park run for the first time today, canny run but the constant banging on about moving out of the way of the faster runners is no doubt off putting for some.
Never had that on my infrequent park runs - was it a narrow track? Cannot be very encouraging for first timers or those just doing their best to get a bit of exercise.

At times it was yeah. If it was a proper race I'd understand it but when the whole point of it is just to get people doing exercise I thought it was a bit much.

CLS is my least favourite local parkrun as as a slower runner it's just too busy for most of the first lap. It would be better if they did a seeded start as I've seen at other busy parkruns.
Was at Skipton today and did my first sub 30 in about 6 months which I'm pleased with. Seems my anaemia is currently being managed as I felt quite comfortable 🙂.
Good luck @Adzy not sure if you're doing some sort of backyard ultra but whatever you doing keep going 🏃🏃🏃

Cheers, not quite a backyard ultra but same principle of running repeatedly over the day. Just 4 runs left to go

Narrow paths but it’s pretty straight forward, run on the right, overtake on the left. Gets quite clustered in parts like, particularly when people are running in threes and fours across the whole path. Wouldn’t be in issue if it wasn’t a looped course but no other way to do it.

Definitely narrow in places but plenty signs saying to keep right and the Marshalls echo that throughout.

Seems there is another way to do it - didn’t know some do a staggered start. Would be a decent idea to adopt tbf

Yeah a few have signs saying sub 20, sub 25, sub 30, etc guiding people where to start. still get some people which ignore them, walkers near the front particularly frustrates me 🤣,but most people self seed appropriately.

Assume you’re joining in? 😂

Watching intently on Strava @Adzy - wind seems to have picked up for you…. 😧

Good Friday Relays today. Went into it full of confidence from my 5k pb on Wednesday but seems that sapped my legs. Still happy with the time of 11:42 for 3.2km (3:39/km ave) but think I’d have gone better without the effort put in to Wednesday’s run. Felt leggy from the get-go.
Great event and atmosphere though, first ever club race and didn’t disgrace myself.
I enjoy the club relays and xc events. Didn't do today but the strollers had a canny turnout

The fast runners (even though they are barely doing 6 minutes per mile ) should get out the way of the slower runners. No one has eyes in the back of their head. The fast runners can look ahead and take remedial action. The slow runners cannot, and shouldn't therefore have to.
Parkrun ? It's not a race is it ? Nobody wears a number ! If the 'faster runners' (and I use the term loosely) are so concerned, then do a 5k road race, or better still a 5k track race when the correct protocol is observed.
Since when did a parkrun become anything other.

If you want a fast time do something different.

Well done mate.

How do you feel? Any tips to others wanting to eventually have a crack at the goggins 4x4x48?
Cheers, I'm shattered. Just had an hour or so kip and feel worse than what I did before it, imagine I'll nod off again sometime this afternoon for a more substantial sleep.

I guess just commit to it, I'd earmarked this weekend for the challenge quite a while ago. Plan a few different routes to reduce the monotony and have multiple alarms set for each run. Obviously take them all slow, no point burning yourself out going full pelt....it's as much a test of mentality as it is of running ability.
