Tommy Watson

Not convinced we will get anywhere near our money back for adingra like some are suggesting !

Who’s gonna pay 20 million or so for him after flopping for us and being loaned out to the French league ?

Watson is 19 years old.
He’s so young.

He might go on to achieve nothing more as far as premier league is concerned but he might mature and grow into a top winger, no one knows yet but what we do know is he scored a goal for us that will never be forgotten on the back of some terrible criticism for an 18 year old to take.

Monaco?

Monaco have an option to buy for 16m. They’ve already paid just short of a 1m loan fee. He’s been fantastic for them. So the deal would be around 17m.

His goal was worth that and so much more to us. For that, he’ll forever be fondly remembered by Sunderland fans. In fact, should he not be in the Sunderland Hall of Fame along with the rest of team who secured our Premiership promotion?
Agree. But that doesn’t mean he’s a PL footballer.

Just though; Watson could be a £40/50m player in the future. Could be totally worthless aswell mind, but I don't know, think there's potential in him in the future.
Is he? Seemingly can’t get on the pitch for Millwall right now. Early days I know and people will mention names like Semenyo, but in reality Watson has had very little senior level football for anyone to base bold predictions on.

To be fair I did say could be. It's an unknown, really.

Not sure it's bad to say he can't get on the pitch at a team who is second in the championship though at his age mind. Most players his age are on loan to L1 and below. Pickford was at the mighty Alfreton Town, for example.

(It was a comparison to Adingra that post btw who we basically swapped him for plus £5m or so)

I saw the game yesterday and he still looked extremely raw. Needs a loan to a championship team where he will play week in week out at the very least.
he needs a season at a Preston or Bristol City where they can give him the time

only looked good for us when he got a run

It's a goal that will be remembered forever and it certainly changed the history of the club forever, but hall of fame? Nah.

I'm forever greatfull to the lad but in our stinking 6 game losing run before the play offs he was pulling out of challenges and that. It's a hall of fame goal but we didn't exactly get a HoF run out of him.

It’s obviously an unknown how his career will go. But to get so few mins this season can’t have helped his development.
He did pick up a lot of niggly injuries when he was at Brighton earlier in the season which wouldnt have helped him . Also not a great sign at such a young age .
Imagine if Millwall get to the play off final and Watson scores the winner again. Has that ever been done before.
Imagine if him and patto are the reason boro stay down at Wembley
