SAFC v Palace FA cup 1976

Was a very disappointing experience at 13 years old, which was a foretaste of many disappointments over the years.

Massive expectant crowd, Fulwell End rammed, and off my feet in the crowd numerous times. As has been said, unbeaten at home in the league that season. Malcolm Allison in his Fedora getting dogs abuse and half eaten pies flung at him.

Happy Days

Remember it like it was yesterday
Before my time but typical Sunderland in an unbeaten league season at home we lose to a third division team.

Never progressed again to the fifth round, let alone the 6th, until the 1992 Cup run. Remember thinking as a young fan we were absolutely jinxed in Cup as year after year were knocked straight out.

Bolton and Moncur were terrible on that goal. We hadn’t lost at home for a year, and that was only loss that season iirc.
Had draws with the two Bristol’s …’ ooh I say Matron’
Bolton all over the place for that goal.
