If we qualify for Europe

he can get in more European youngsters, that has been our strategy to now, throw them into competitive games and build them up to see if theyre Premier standard or move on . like weve just done with Adingra.

SAFC fans not wanting to play games in Europe shock. you couldnt make it up.
We need to do that to compete in the Premier League next season, let alone adding in Europe on top of it. I’d never “turn my nose up” at Europe, if we play I’ll be there, but if we finish 9th and miss out on Conference League it won’t cause me any disappointment.

be easier to sell the club / keep players with a European place

I really hope we don’t get Europe this season . We are miles off having a squad that can play two games a week and I struggle to think of a team outside the top six whose season hasn’t been ruined by European competition.

Next season if rather be in the conference league and finish 17th than not be in it and finish 10th

Palace this season.
Brighton 23/24
Villa 23/24
West Ham 22/23
West Ham 21/22
Leicester 20/21
Wolves 19/20

It's a myth that a club outside the top 6 can't compete in Europe.

“It’s not for the downtrodden likes of us”
ffs
Grow a pair and get on board with us becoming a top team again, sooner rather than later.

We would only be allowed to spend 70 % of our turnover as opposed to 85% if we don’t
Is it worth it ?
Just to add if we qualified for the europa league it’s about an extra 16 games if you go far in the competition
Think our squad would struggle tbh
Wimp

We have a better squad than Forest who are competing well in Europa League. It's a load of crap people saying we aren't ready, we would almost guarantee to improve the squad if we did as well.

I hope we qualify and play a strong team. Our home attendances will not be high for Conference games either.
Me too.
All these people who can’t get tickets for Prem matches can go.
All the tourists that we will apparently attract can go.
I’ll defo go, I couldn’t afford to go when I was a boy and we were in the Cup Winners Cup ( they put the prices up!)

What are you saying. Without context of their position in n the league before and after Europe that means nothing.

They have gone from almost getting in the top 6 to almost being relegated.

The 8 teams in the QF of the Conference League are:

Palace
Strasbourg
Mainz
Rayo Vallecano
AEK Athens
AZ Alkmaar
Shaktar Donetsk
Fiorentina

We're capable of winning it if we get in it, which is mental considering how recently we were in the Championship and League One. It'd be class.
I cannot believe there are people against it. I'd be skint like but I'm at every game if it happens.

Because their mental owner has changed manager 3 times.

May as well not enter any competition ever again then

Almost nobody on here has seen us in European campaign in their lifetime but piss their pants at the thought of it.
Who cares about the future outcome of playing in it. The real question is, do you want to see us in a European competition in your lifetime and follow us into the obscure European cities it may give us. Absolutely

I was at both our home games in 73 and still think the most likely tournament we’d qualify for, the Conference League is a heap of shit and best avoided.

Anyone done any rough calculations as to what our transfer budget would be based off this seasons projected revenues for both for 70% and 85%?

If 70% meant we were able to spend what we did last summer I think we'd be in good shape to handle Europa or Conference league.

All did fine the season they were in Europe.

Non-big-six / newly qualified or mid-table clubs (e.g., Aston Villa, Newcastle in early European returns, Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, or historical examples like Middlesbrough, Leicester in certain campaigns): These sides more frequently experience a points drop (averaging around 9 fewer points in the season they play in Europe compared to the prior year). Excluding Conference League participants, the drop can be steeper (~14 points in some analyses). This often leads to a lower final league position (average drop of ~4 places or 1–2.6 positions in older data).

Obviously from AI but from your own eyes you can see that the likes of Newcastle, Spurs ,Palace , Forest etc have all found it difficult to juggle the two competitions whilst the likes of Man U have thrived by only having to play once a week .
