Mags selling their stadium to themselves

Its quite common in non league football for the playing side and stadium to be owned by the same person via 2 companies.

Football side runs at a small profit from gates/merchandise, sponsorship and pays a token amount to "hire the stadium". Stadium company then makes money from functions, catering and bar sales.

Its a good model at that level. But I just cant see how it works at PL level because theres no way that commercial revenue will pay players high wages. Especially when you factor in that the new financial rules are based on revenue.
Is it possibly just to make it more clean cut when they come to sell the mags, that the lease is totally separate from the football side of things? Assuming previously they all came under the same entity?

It was forced through by the government (Tory at the time, but I highly doubt any party would have been against this). Everyone know it was a sham, but we wanted greater alliences with the Suadis - still do really with the Iran War.

There is basically zero chance that the FA will be kicking up a fuss.
Greens? It's only going to be an issue if people make it an issue.

That was my concern. While its funny when its the mags its a dangerous precedent. It was a big factor in the downfall of Darlington.

At lower league level I think separation is done to allow the football side of the business to qualify for grants and tax exemptions.

At this level its probably a PSR dodge, or possibly an exit strategy.

It's a PSR dodge in my opinion. If anything, makes a sale harder/more complicated, though far from impossible.

The little fat Mags who sold their soul
The little fat Mags were sold a dream
Chubby little losers
Chubby little losers, national joke....

They sold their soul for a shot at fame
Costumes and wigs, their jokes are so lame
They've got no style, they've no grace
They're banal and facile, they're a fat waste of space

I mean if they went they way of Darlo I wouldn't be too upset
Thing is the new PSR terms are all about revenue arent they? Taking the stadium of the equation is going to limit that revenue surely
Not owning the land the stadium sits on has to cause an issue also?

They're at a bit of a crossroads I reckon.

Either they'll properly go for it this summer and start to spend the money needed to get to the top table. That would mean a new stadium, new revenue streams, sponsorship of every blade of grass - the full City model. That's an investment of £2-3bn.

Or... they won't. And there's lots of evidence to suggest that they won't.

PIF are scaling back costs on the , abandoning plans to build a and massively cutting the ambition of the Noem project. They've also cut investment in both the Saudi Pro League and LIV golf .

So the mags have a question to ask themselves. What's more important to Mohammed Bin Salman - the 2034 World Cup, or Newcastle United?

Susanne Boyle should belt this out for the lads.

They've just put £270m into LIV Golf also.

$6bn in total - it's still loss making and they're starting to lose players.

None of their sporting investments have worked out, and they're starting to pull out of failed investments elsewhere. They've got a lot of money but it's not infinite.
Yeah was reading there that PIF are scaling back on sporting ventures and instead concentrating on Tourism, Real Estate and their Domestic Investments. The middle East conflict can't be helping them either on the Oil front.

Laughable the way clubs just circumnavigate financial difficulties.
Massive losses, no worries we will sell something to a related party and that loss becomes a profit with little effort.

And its not just the mags either its the whole ethos of top flight football now.

Think I'd prefer to just say fuck it spend what you like but the owners must physically put the money into the clubs so they aren't left fucked when the owners eventually get bored of their playthings
