Mags selling their stadium to themselves

It is cheating. Dodgy as. Same shite Chelsea been pulling with hotel and their ladies team. Sadly seems to be a case of “if others cheat, and are allowed to do so, we do the same”.
Can’t believe I’m going to stick up for them and argue against a Newcastle fan on this but it’s not cheating it’s using the rules. Again it’s the idiots at the Premier League who allow this, it’s somehow ran by a bunch of 10 year olds who are scared to upset clubs. The selling of stadiums is somehow banned in the EFL but the PL thought giving 2 years notice was a better idea, aye so clubs can do it and escape any fine.

SCR is just as bad and has as many loopholes as PSR AND FFP.

The most annoying thing is we will have Everton and Forest fans living off as they broke the rules (that their clubs agree on) and were punished, Everton even admitted to breaking it but they’ll claim 2 tier or cartel as Chelsea use the stupid rules to their advantage and then only get a small fine.

Masters and co need to go and get sensible strong people in and change the rules on day 1, don’t give clubs 2 years to use the loopholes.

Ok. Cheating was poor vocabulary. It is against the spirit of the rules though. Totally agree on Masters & co.
Worraboot?
Worraboot what exactly?

Looks like they are selling in the summer. You’d imagine Bruno and Tonali will go quite quickly.

A chunk of the fees though will simply be used to offset the loss of CL football and the clubs big operating loss.

Exactly it’s basically tipping the clubs off to do it within that two year period

Wasn’t a dig or anything, just cheating will lead to a punishment, this is basically applauded at HQ as they’ll go beautifully done Newcastle you’ve made a profit.

Masters & co won’t ever go though, clubs have too much power. They get to decide on the rules and they look after themselves they need a puppet like him to allow them to keep the rules loose incase they need an easy get out.

I’m not familiar with Newcastle, but in Manchester practically every property is leasehold rather than freehold. It may just be be par for the course up there
Leaseholds are fairly common, as is the buying and selling of them e.g. if you buy a property you may well be buying the remaining term of the lease (which usually has many hundreds of years left to run in the case of residential property at least so is not really an issue, although it's good to check there isn't a shorter term left on it but any conveyancer worth their salt should pick that up). What is very obviously a balance sheet exercise however is selling such a lease to a different subsidiary of PIF. There is a good reason this is against UEFA (and future EPL) rules. It can effectively be used a giant loophole aginst the rules that should be about making sure a club is actually financially sustainable.

It appears the Mags would have been over 100m worse off without their dodgy dealings in total. Not sure if they would have been able to absorb that loss under PSR rules. For this season 25/26 they may well be ok with CL money and Isak sale but going forward though they may have issues. Their rolling cost of amortisation for the next couple of seasons is the best part of a 100m even without making any new signings. Even if the Isak money is partly rolled over under the next SCR they will still be looking to make some money up elsewhere. I'd be very surprised if they don't try and make at least one big sale in Tonali (and I suspect him and everyone in the club knows it hence all the signals).

They only have so many big name assets they can flog however so if they don't start recruiting better again they will run out of Isaks and Tonalis to sell and then they will be in trouble..

So the stadium was already owned by the sauidis via the company they created to buy the whole club, and they've just sold the stadium to another company they created purely for this purpose.
Same owners, same bloody name on the company. Yet somehow this is perceived as revenue to the club-company without any according loss of value on the balance sheet?

That's just cheating, surely?

Hall, Livramento, Bruno, Tonali and Gordon, after them they not making big profits on any/many of the others. Hopefully they stick with Eddie and Andy this summer and they recruit half a dozen expensive duds.
