David Bruce leaving SAFC

If it was Bruce who come up with all the no fucks given shithousery for the mags game, “Follow the Mackems” visitors on the scoreboard etc then I’ll be eternally grateful to him for showing them lot all the hospitality they deserve i.e. none.

I’m pretty certain he’s responsible for naming the Jimmy Montgomery stand and the lettering on the east stand. It might all seem small insignificant things but they help give a bland stadium a bit of character and a bit of pride about the place

He’ll be a sad loss
The visitors stuff & naming a stand after a legend who is still alive to appreciate it was top class

His first act at the club was to contact Hummel personally and ask if they’d design a kit for us. Us going to them not the other way around.

The ridiculous commercial success of that partnership for the club only comes about because we had a fan in charge who knew exactly what the fans would want and would buy.

A generic international CEO just puts it out to tender and get Addidas or whoever on a decent deal for a club our size.

You'd hope Hummel sticks around. Great stuff from them.

Away tickets
Yeah, there are 7 years old out there who are life long Sunderland fans but can't get tickets for the Saudis or Leeds away.

I am no expert on this but KLD has made changes like this throughout his tenure and at the end of the day all we can do is judge him on results. He's clearly ambitious (I think he's significantly more ambitious than most of our fans for e.g.) and he wants to take us to the very top. At the moment you cannot really argue with what he's doing.

The headline hurts, its crap losing a local influence in the club, especially when they have done so much for us.

The more I read I am feeling more confident, obviously they're always looking at bettering the club. Bruce doesn't leave till the end of the season too, I believe?

He can aid the transition I would have thought.

I do worry though, about the second season syndrome kicking in, is this the natural slow burn demise starting? Sometimes in an attempt to improve, you dismantle the great you have done. Will Reg stay? Which players will we lose?

Also, you want to maintain that local flavour, or at least keeping in touch with our working class roots and staying the course of being the people's club. If our ambition wants to take examples from bigger clubs, look to Germany.

Good luck everyone involved.

I don’t understand what goes on behind the scenes at the club but am confident that decisions are made for the benefit of the football club. Similar to when Speakman left, the club and Bruce have spoken very well and everything appears to be oretty amicable.

Yes, but that will be a condition of their compromise agreement. Plus no employer likes to employ people who look backwards with anger. It can paint a picture of someone who is a victim rather than an achiever

My main concern is we move away from aiming to be a fan centric club with the community at its heart, to just being another corporate entity determined to milk every penny from the fans.

Granted PL clubs can only improve if the balance sheet allows it, but look at what’s happened up the road. Had the heart ripped out of what was once a passionate club.
Who’s to know he hasnt been behind some of our criminal pricing?

His US background was on show with the club massively imo?

Would have been class if he’d stood up against some ticket office crusades/fuck ups etc.

End of the day nobody on here knows what he’s offered.

Mlf , sorry to hear this ,did everything right to get us lot back on side
Hopefully we still stick with Hummel and his replacement doesn't like Avec
Brucey lad go to them up the road ,and ruin them even more , this is your next challenge
Do you accept

He had me at OTT Microtransactions.........
On the face of it a very strange decision. Would be surprised if this was a mutual decision.A genuine Sunderland supporter and from looking in doing more than a very decent job.
To be fair outside the people directly involved who knows? One or either party could have things going on in their life that are life changing. One party might have had a better offer. Who knows really.

Criminal pricing😄
I’ve no idea one way or the other obviously but the clubs earned my trust this season more than others
This

KLD has done amazingly since taking over
The only area of concern is maybe fans connection ànd history of the club
David Bruce totally got that ànd seemingly was responsible for huge improvements around the club /city /identity-this is vital
I hope we have still have a team of people behind the scenes that understands this too ànd can keep the very good work going .

Exactly this.
A massive priority was to re-establish the connection between the fans and the club and help make the stadium a fortress again.

It’s the passion within for the club and city as well as the fact he’s a pretty smart guy that made him the perfect person for this role. It’s really disappointing news. I think it’s important to have local boots on the pitch and in the boardroom personally.
