30,000+ season tickets sold

I know the deadline was set a while back, but perhaps move it on a day so they can issue one last reminder to supporters at the Spurs game that they have until midnight to renew and maybe have the ticket office open an hour after game for people who aren’t IT savvy. Just a thought.

I don’t think it’s necessarily a cynical thing about attracting high-spending day trippers. That might be true of Man Utd, Liverpool and the big London clubs, but keeping a decent allocation available for general sale is the only way to get new, younger fans involved. Otherwise it becomes a fans closed shop with no opportunity to get new fans on board.

It’s about getting the balance right between rewarding loyalty, and not being too exclusive.
Wasn’t saying it was for us, the fact we were willing to sell nearly 40k this season suggests the opposite is true of us, and it’s down to some people not renewing that we’re on the 30-31k mark (and down on last season’s) at the minute - the club aren’t capping it. But aye agree about the need to keep some for general sale, my original point was how I was surprised we actually let it get as high as 38k. About 35k-36k would be a good balance imo.

I also don’t think as a newly promoted club that’s never been seen as very fashionable outside of the local area, that we would even have a day tripper demand to supply yet. Long may it continue tbh because it’s tragic the makeup of many Premier League grounds now, no wonder atmospheres are on their arses. There’s ample population in the local area and NE exiles to hopefully ensure our ground is filled with non-day trippers and proper Sunderland supporters.

There were a canny few thousand last/this season on the waiting list . A couple of my relations tried getting seats beside their kids but no luck. This year they are crossing their fingers with the new extension coming.

It’s also been mentioned at home games since Feb 🤷‍♂️
I’ll be honest I pay zero attention to the chat over the tannoy, I doubt I’m the only one. Was good of the club to send out the leaflet though hopefully means everyone is informed. We will sell whatever is left over either way.

It’s been on big screens a too

A lot of people don’t go on websites or have Sunderland social media I know I had to tell me cousin she had to manually renew. Whatever is left will go right away anyway due to the waiting list just hope there’s not many disappointed kids that have parents unaware.

That waiting list might not quite be what it is reported to be however. It’s easy to be placed on a waiting list without having the financial commitment of taking up the seat if and when it comes along.

I’d be surprised if we have 8 or 9k on a waiting list that are ready to part with money

Most will renew, surely
Agree -a small amount will maybe wait ànd re locate ? ( aways some who want to move )
Every person around me ànd our group have renewed or said they are going to
Been a great season and finances aside think most would want to be on the journey -very positive at the minute

Agree. There will also be families where the husband and wife and teenage kid have registered for it with the intention of only buying 1 ticket or maybe 2.

Other clubs with a proper waiting list have to pay yearly and they get a place in the queue that is visible etc. Ours is probably an excel sheet.

You have to renew before you can move/relocate.

This will probably catch people out who haven't done it for years.

There'll be a miriad of reasons.

- cost
- novelty worn off

And big one - kick off times.

Since Bournemouth at home 29th November, we've had 2 Saturday home games - palace and Brighton - 3 of the remaining 4 are definitely not on Saturday and man United is still to be confirmed.

So best case scenario is 3 Saturday home games between end of November and end of season.

Aye, for proper die hard fans it shouldn't make a difference, but to normal people it does.
Die hard fans are normal people tbf !
Point is fair though about Saturday games -I actually prefer Sunday as it’s easier to park ( less restrictive)
I’m old -don’t drink ànd parking is a chew the older I get
Wouldn’t miss the heroes though

Surprised how many haven't renewed yet.....apart from the last couple of home games, it couldn't have been any better value for money this season. Unbeaten in first 12 home games, including wins against the mags, Brentford, west ham, wolves, Burnley, palace, Bournemouth....draws against man city, arsenal, villa! Still think we have one more class result in us (maybe a spurs, man Utd or Chelsea win).

Does seem a bit odd like. As others have said, times are tough financially and the price did go up again, but 21% less sold as thing stand is a canny chunk and way than what I would have guessed at.

Maybe a late surge gets us up to 33kish. So we'd b3 c5k down. Plenty available for those on the waiting list if so and more available game by game too.
