Is Trai Hume good enough for the Prem?

Lets address a couple of things. The comment you have replied to was based on the errors he would routinely make the Championship and before a ball was kicked in the Prem. Another thing I'd add is that I have since re-considered this position various times this season and even expressed them in this thread alone.

I have now witnessed him play this season at RB, LB, CM, and RW. I think his best position is an outsider winger that has some pace and the ability to put in good crosses from deep. He is very tenacious and loves a tackle, which makes our high pressing a much mightier weapon if he is higher up the pitch. He is also very durable.

He may not have the intelligence of quick feet of say a Lee Fee, which may limit his potential.

As a RB, I think he has shown to be a mixed bag, but his inability to judge when a winger is going to try and knock past him has been costly, think of Leeds at home. He does fall asleep letting in wingers past him.

as CM, he could work, but probably lacks the intelligence to see things quickly enough and is probably a bit to slow with the ball at his feet to misdirect opposition players.

The captaincy seemed to weigh him down a bit, which is understandable as he's not experience enough yet

Overall, he hasn't been this giant liability harming us and has been ever present and durable at a time when were very short of numbers. I think his attacking traits make him an interesting player to have, but has a defender I'm not convinced he's solid enough. RLB concurs with this, where if we had our best 11, he wouldn't be in it. Mukiele or Geertruida would be RB, Reinildo would be LB, CM there is too many good players there, at RW (his best position) he is not dislodging Traore.
Biggest pile of shite I’ve ever read

I’ll reply properly when you provide an opinion that’s consistent with the actual facts of how he’s performed this season.
That's a cop out answer, you just like the guy and don't want to hear a contrasting opinion. I'm offering you the floor to say what he offers and contradict my opinions. If you want to be an adult about it of course.

This is what they do the revert to insults because they can’t back it up and you can’t say a bad word about Hume
He continues to grow

Captaining your national team at 24 is impressive
Have you seen the lineup

Trai was immense against the Saudis ( as were the rest of the team) stood his ground- looked them in the eye- remained composed for the task.
What a bargain he’s been.Pound for pound our best signing since SKP.
Was immense agaisnt the Saudis?? nearly give them a goal after ten mins man ball watching for Elanga header

Just about opinions mate.

My starting point here is that I think he is a very, very good player.

I have read your critique, and whilst it is considered, I believe you are wrong.

I think his best position is as a Full Back with license to attack the right flank whenever possible.

Even with a fully fit squad, imo, he should be first choice Right Back.

I take your point about possibley being out and out RW, but not his biggest strength imo.

Like I said, all about opinions.🙂

There’s some tateys around.

Hume isn’t the fastest or most naturally talented in our squad but there’s a reason he has played as much as he has. He is tactically smart - this is critical in our side - versatile, almost always available and works hard. It’s also his first season in the PL, he’s the youngest player in our back line, and he’s played in at least 4 positions. He may well continue to improve and be even better next year.

He’s a good, solid, PL defender with potential to get even better

Problem with him been fullback is he’s nowhere near quick enough players are going past him on the outside and getting balls in too easily, this is why we aren’t seeing any of his trademark tackles he can’t catch them

He’s a great player to have on the bench

Well our manager completely disagrees with you

You’ve slagged off various players all season and been proved completely wrong everytime. It’s great.

I’ve criticised rigg and Hume out of a full squad of players where have I been proved wrong ???

The manager barely has any other players to pick from

Hume has played the most games

Yet you think the manager only picks him not to upset the squad

Like that’s mad. RLB couldnt give less of a shit

You literally saying Xhaka and Mukelie would be unhappy with RLB for dropping Hume for Geert

Mad

Some mad takes on this thread about a player who having just turned 24 in his first season in the PL for a newly promoted team has played more games/minutes for the team a few points away from 7th and has captained the team.

His best position is clearly RB with adaptability to play LB, RWB and RCB in a back 5 if desperate, a position he plays for NI.

Thought he had his best game at LB against the mags but for that one header elanga had very early on.

Can't understand anyone saying his best position would be some kind of wide right forward/winger. For a team not scoring many goals using a position that high up the pitch to accommodate Hume would not be the answer to scoring more. He's also not a CM, let's hope we don't need to resort to that option again.

In your opinion.

The first two yards of any chase are in the head.
The best defenders see it before it happens. They very rarely have to resort to the sliding tackles.

And the way we are set up defensively means if the first defender is beat, there will be a GX, or Ballerd, or O'Nien there to cover.

One of the slowest players I ever saw was Teddy Sherringham, but he would invariabley get to the ball before the opposition because he won the first two yards in his heed.

Ok consider this he drops Hume for Gertruida pisses Hume off who’s our player and it’s a close knit group, then gutruida decides to fuck off to Liverpool where does that leave us ??? There is a lot more to consider when managing a team than just the football side of things

He’s consistently picked Hume ahead of Geertruida all season

All season.
Because you have to wait for your opportunity !!! Ffs

You can’t be being serious?

Why on earth would any of our players like Xhaka and Mukiele be pissed off with that?

Like what are you talking about?

Brobbey is gonna be unhappy because he dropped Hume? Do you have any idea how insane this theory is

He just rates Hume higher than Geertruida. He knows more about football than you.

I don’t get why that’s hard so hard to get your head round? Bizarre
