Durham v DUCCE

Plenty of runs today and our batsmen got some decent time in the middle.

Presumably we'll declare overnight and let our bowlers have a go from the start tomorrow

You would think so with the objective of bowling the students out twice in two days
That doesn't really matter. If we bowl them out cheaply tomorrow we'll just bat again. A declaration may happen some time in day 3 to give our bowlers more practice, but winning the game is secondary to blowing off the cobwebs.

Tomorrow might be a wash out with rain and 40+ mph winds

Would you bet against him breaking down/being injured during his first game and him never being seen in Durham colours again? His contract here just looks like a pension pot top-up to me. Mysteriously he'll recover in time for West Indies summer games.

No, I wouldn’t bet against it because our bowling ranks are cursed.

I think you’re being a touch harsh about his contract though, he’s proven in the Championship and by all accounts title favourites Surrey were disappointed not to be able to retain him for this summer.

Perhaps I am. However as he only played 2 games for Surrey last year, bowled 62 overs, 4/213, I'm not sure he was vital for their 2026 plans. I just think we could have done better for the salary.

"I'll be incredibly interested to see how Kemar Roach goes in Div 2. I love Kemar, everyone at the Oval does, and hes done so much to help our period of dominance. Yet, most of us feel our biggest mistake last season was re-signing him - hes lost a yard or two and was a relative weak link for us last year, but should still be able to dominate Divison Two batters - he still gets consistent movement and has unplayable balls in him. Hope he cleans up"
