Durham CCC 2026

Only because another county is not willing to give him a chance. If someone took him on he might have done better. His confidence has probably been shot thanks to being messed about by a certain person at Durham.
Maybe but we don't have to automatically criticise club whenever they decide to get rid of a player

Definitely not maybe. A poster has the right to question a decision if they back it with a sound reason. Obviously there will always be youngsters released justifiably and without criticism.
I don't do it automatically.
Conversely, you appear to hold the view that T20 club can do no wrong.
The not T20

God I hope I'm a bit more excited in a few weeks for the season as I'm just all a bit meh at the moment. This lot running the club knocked the stuffing out of me massively.
I've still got PTSD from Headingley.
Good to see that the 2nds have got a 4 day home fixture against Notts commencing Aug 24 at Darlo. That's me sampling the pie, chips and curry sauce.:D
Also happy to see another second IX 50 over game v Armed Forces at Richmond.

Jonathon Bushnell
FC Bat Average 35+ over 9 matches,discarded

Mitch Killeen
FC Bowling 11 wickets at average 13,discarded
,offered better terms elsewhere.
2 of Killeen FC games were against Zimbabwe A.

So basically he's played 1 FC game where he did incredibly well taking 6/103

As much as Durham should have been nurturing his talent instead of signing young players from elsewhere.

Bailey is a more experienced FC cricketer as it stands having played 5 CC FC games(as well as being 9 months younger). How they both fair in their careers we shall see.

I remember exercising that right questioning why Bushnell wasn't getting game time and had the head coach stuttering & all over the place when I replied back to him saying "he got a double century in the seconds & a 50 in the first team". That bad, Marcus North had to interrupt. It's uncomfortable how the club has been recently and previously under Franklin. The year we went up I thought we had cracked it but we've reverted back to a lot of bad habits last year and ultimately it cost us massively. It's concerning

He's played 3 classified 1st class games nevertheless with very impressive stats, far more impressive than Bailey and that's not in anyway knocking ,Bailey. It's what message it gives to other Academy products when youngsters are discarded after producing productive displays that is my concern.
We went 1st class with the, intention of focusing on giving our own youngsters the opportunity to play at that level.
We win the championship with a team of academy products in contrast with the present, set up not one player has developed into a proven player at senior level
An 8 year period

I will be interested to see how Killeen gets on at Essex.. I will openly put my hand up and say that for most of the time I watched him at Durham I didn't think he would be good enough but he definitely showed big signs of improvement last season and the fact that he decided to leave is not a great look for the club.
Bushnell unfortunately just wasn't good enough with bat or ball like plenty others they look good all rounders at youth level and 2nd Xl but that step up to first Xl is massive. He has been to a few counties on trial and got nowhere

Killeen was inconsistent and had a few injuries but there was always an occasional top performance.I think both Rushy and Raine got rejected by a few counties before acceptance.

Kemar Roach…
I'll be incredibly interested to see how Kemar Roach goes in Div 2. I love Kemar, everyone at the Oval does, and hes done so much to help our period of dominance. Yet, most of us feel our biggest mistake last season was re-signing him - hes lost a yard or two and was a relative weak link for us last year, but should still be able to dominate Divison Two batters - he still gets consistent movement and has unplayable balls in him. Hope he cleans up

Yes,got a fifer against the Kiwis but then injured a hamstring and doesn't appear to have played any cricket since that series. A worry!
Obviously hope you're correct about dominating 2nd division batters

If I was CEO I’d extend the offer to every single county and their members that they can come to Durham for free for any fixture involving their county.

It’s about bums on seats, get them in and while they’re here they’ll spend. Especially if they’re getting in for nowt.

Too much common sense that for Durham CC.Odds on they'll buy lunch, tea and drinks at the ground.

In my experience county cricket supporters are incredibly charitable. There’s a good chance they’ll intentionally buy a load of gear from the club shop and/or a load of food and drink from the members lounge to repay the gesture.
