O'Nien

He’s nowhere near good enough. In a handful of games hes cost us our place in the cup with an insane backpass, got sent off, should have given away a penalty at Leeds, cost us a goal here and nearly cost us a second with another bad pass to Xhaka.

Sorry but CBs at PL cannot make a major mistake every single game. You don’t get second chances very often at this level in games. He’s got very lucky so far not to be punished too much. Lad needs moving on in the summer.
From all appearances, RLB, the coaching staff, Xhaka and the entire team disagree with you. But what do they know?

Do they? He’s played as a last resort only. He’s dropped every chance they get. Sounds pretty much like Regis agrees with my assessment too.

And I’m not sure what Xhaka has to do with it

I get everyone is on a buzz and everything is great with the world right now but it never ceases to amaze me that the Onien cultists will not accept he's a massive liability and not good enough for this level.

Once again he's at fault for a goal. He's barely played this season and he's managed to get sent off, is at clear fault for 2 goals, and nearly scored an insane own goal last week.

It's so clear to me now how people like trump get elected despite being incompetent, people are blinded by personality.

Nobody expects him to be anywhere near our first choice, but people on here talk about him like he will immediately give away a 5-0 and it’s stinks. If it weren’t for whoppers fuming against him, we could all recognise him for what he is: a loyal servant who is a bit part squad player, who can play a bit.

I like him me.

He’s a personality and a character in a game which is rapidly losing those types of people.

He’s improved year on year, loves the club and the area, and has had more success than most players who have ever been on the books of SAFC.

Say what you like about him but he gives 100% whenever he puts on a red and white shirt and we have had plenty over the years who haven’t.

Xhaka - the guy who presented O9 with MOTM after Leeds, and talked about what a good player he was and how important he was to the team. That Xhaka. As I posted above, he's not a first team player and even he agrees with that.

Can’t blame the keeper???? he passed the ball to him on his left foot so he had absolutly nowhere to go

He was shite today mate stop pretending he got caught on the ball early doors off Gordon anarl and blocked his kick , missed about 4 crosses he wasn’t good today
Yes mate sorry you are totally right he didn’t have a player to his left and a player to his right to pass too. A player at the top level should be able to pass it with both feet which 09 can.he panicked and made the wrong decision.

The short goal kicks are a pre planned tactic too from RLB.

But it’s happened it’s done and we won that’s the main thing.

He was hardly gonna slag him off was he?

Yes I’m aware of that but the keeper forced him onto his wrong foot his left had he passed it outside of onien he could of rolled it done the line to Guitruida instead of having to run across the middle of the box

Weird part of our fan base is instantly hostile against anyone who isn’t absolutely class at football, despite giving 100% and doing a pretty good job. It’s like they can’t wait to tear things down.

Maybe other teams fans do the same but I’ve never seen it.

You can’t blame the keeper for that. Roefs has been doing that all season too. It’s how PL teams up and down the country play football time after time. Luke’s left foot is more than capable. His brain, however, is not.
You have to pass the ball to him onto his right foot there so he can go down the line to guitruida not force him to have run into the middle of the box he hasn’t got time to
Shift it onto his other foot because of Gordon
he was shite? thats very harsh. he was mistaken for that pass but otherwise..what did he do wrong exactly? i would agree was clearly nervous but he didnt fuck up after that. he pulled off somce decent saves. he didnt fold. hes a young lad, new to the team, never played in a game this big. of course hes nervous.
I’m not saying he wasn’t nervous or he’s not young but he didn’t have a good game let’s not pretend he juts about missed every cross he came for he for
Lucky with a kick Gordon blocked early doors

He's our fifth choice CB (behind Alderette, Ballard, Mukiele and Geertruida) and as good as any fifth choice CB for a newly promoted team would be.

Fundamentally you will never ever get me to dislike or turn on him, given how important he was in getting us here but he's our fifth choice CB for good reasons. I don't think anyone would play him over Ballard or Mukiele. We all get that but they're injured and that's nothing we can change.

Yesterday and the Leeds game are both games we won and he was a major part of that. Yes he made big mistakes in both of them, but we got away with it, which is why I find some of the way he's spoken about an overreaction.

How good a player do you think is willing be our 5th choice CB? Like do you think we can get John Stones to come and sit on our bench for a season until we have an injury crisis?

You're not going to find significantly better who is willing to play that role, so I don't see any reason to get rid.

Surely that's the whole point of a squad player. Someone who can be brought in as backup and then dropped when the first/second choice is available. You aren't going to have a top quality player happy to play a handful of times a year.

Would be ideal if certain people stopped throwing tantrums like they’re 11 years old when he’s announced in the starting lineup anarl.

He made a mistake yesterday and we were all probably fuming when it happened, myself included. Picked himself up and was good for the rest of the game. He got man of the match in his last start.

He’s obviously not a starter but he steps up when he’s required. Been with us since that rotten spell in league one and he’s a club legend.

This. And he himself knows all of this. He knows it all and is still willing to sit on our bench and fill in when we need him to, because he f***ing loves us. Like when he said in January "I'm going nowhere".
