O'Nien

Just watching STID Season 3 again randomly - the Baldy Scottish Snake has just came in as manager and is talking about ONien…

“You’ll never see Luke down, ever. … it’s impossible how positive he is about life in general … it’s infectious”.

Then he talks about asking him to travel with the team despite not being fit and Luke said he’d love it and “will be the best 19th man you’ve ever seen”.

I genuinely think his focus and attitude helped give the club some sense of direction and togetherness. It’s not something you can “measure” but he’s contributed massively to where we are now.

Mr Sunderland.

It was certainly tactical for the keeper to pass it to Luke for the left footed crossfield launch. It's the only reason the keeper would make that pass, to get the left foot angle. I haven't checked but I have a feeling Lukes right foot slipped slightly in the execution of the final pass.

And yet the 2 premier league games he’s played 90 minutes- we won both. He made a mistake. Bounced back from it.

And he wouldn’t be in the team if Ballard. Mukiele, Reinaldo and Cirkin hadn’t been injured. Hes essentially 5th choice behind Aldrete, Muliele, Ballard and Geertruida. Are you realistically gonna get a 5th choice utility man in than is better than him. I don’t think so
This is the point. You cannot have a top player who will settle for being 5th choice. I hope he is still with us next season.

He's a crackers player, you can't fault him. He's still got that worry of his shoulder at the back if his mind but you would never know that by the way he plays and gets smashed about for the cause. Tremendous.

is he a premier league starter? Course not, even he would admit that

But he’s been a huge part of the culture shift. We were rotten. Utterly rotten. There was no link between the fans and the players. He’s been a massive part of that shift.

It’s rare you just buy teams, clubs need building.

I love the bloke

Well said

The pass should have went to the right back or left back.

Clearly a tactical decision we fucked up on.

Can’t blame the keeper for that one not even a bit. But we learnt from it and can’t out swinging second half.
Spot on.

Had we have lost that game I'd have forgiven him thanks to the role he's played in getting this club to where it now is.

As it happens I don't have to forgive him.

From now on his legendary status shall include how he once gave the scum a goal head start at the landfill just to give them half a chance. In true skunk re-writing history fashion.

Mate don't want to get into an argument...but the risk was collective.

Xhaka was standing outside the D telling Elborg to pass it to Luke.

He slipped and scuffed the clearance, yes..but the blame doesn't rest entirely at his door.
Oh I 100% understand why it was done because we did to perfection 3 or 4 times after

Personally that early on, i wouldn't have dared, but then again I was released at under 15s

In end we won, mistake happen

Definitely not on the keeper, it was all pre planned.

But try telling that to the weapons on here that have some weird hatred for Ellborg... who's literally been here 2 months

He’s been quite good too. He’s not as confident with the ball at his feet as Roefs but for a lad that’s barely played first choice football thrown into defence that’s been missing critical players he’s done pretty well.

Can’t blame the keeper???? he passed the ball to him on his left foot so he had absolutly nowhere to go
