O'Nien

Credit to him for keeping his head together after that. Should be nowhere near the first team if everyone's fit though.

Great lad but i won’t let the result cloud my judgement. Gifted them a opening goal and nearly give them a second with a ridiculous pass to Xhaka but we got the win that’s all that matters but hopefully we shake hands in the summer and go our separate ways as we need better but there hasn’t been more likeable Sunderland players as him in my lifetime and that today was probably a perfect and fitting end for me.
Longest sentence posted on the SMB since the mags last recorded a Derby win. Well done 👍

Made a huge mistake, but owned it and grew into the game. Acknowledged his error in the post game interview witn no excuses and thanked his team mates for getting him through it.

He knows hes not at the level of others, but he makes uo for it with hard work and determination.

Honestly, I want him hung drawn and quartered at half time

2nd half he was solid

He's and experienced pro he should know not take a risk
Mate don't want to get into an argument...but the risk was collective.

Xhaka was standing outside the D telling Elborg to pass it to Luke.

He slipped and scuffed the clearance, yes..but the blame doesn't rest entirely at his door.

His redemption didn't take long after the mistake. And another nervy one second half.

But other than that he had a solid game and is part of this result. Arguably the best derby result of recent times given the Saudi resources. That cannot be taken away from him, it is infinite.

He is and has been (just like Ball ) a great servant. We need to face facts he is cover at best and in no way is he cover to start in a premier league team
In fairness the blunder he made was in part caused by the GK and his awful playing out from the back
Ellborg in his 4 games has shown that part of his game is a huge liability. He is one of ours and the protective arm being extended while nice shouldn’t detract from the fact he is a heart in the mouth GK
I expect pelters but personally Patterson is head and shoulders above Ellborg

Nobody is saying that O9 should be in the starting eleven but when we have players out injured he's exactly the type of player you want to have available.

After the Leeds game, Xhaka presented him with MOTM, said what a good player he was and how important he was to the team.

At the end of the game today, the other players mobbed him to celebrate.

Those are the opinions of his value that matter.

It was the same after we won the playoff. Most of the players ran to him soon as the final whistle went. There was echos of that today when he hit the deck in tears at the final whistle. His team mates clearly love him being there.

It wasn’t fact Elborg passed it to him which he shouldn’t of it was a f***ing awful half arsed pass he has to put that on his right foot outside of him , so he can play it to the fullback esp with Gordon baring down on him was a awful pass from the keeper

Did well after the brain fart

Really happy for him, great that he's came full cycle with us...no one could ever doubt his commitment.

His issue is that he peforns better after he’s made a mistake. Cut the mistake out and he’s a player. So, mentally he needs to not make the mistake in the first place. It’s a confidence / fear issue. We work on it in my industry constantly as it enables decision making.

Even by his own admission Luke knows with everyone fit he sometimes doesn't even make the bench

But he obviously contributes a lot behind the scenes and, at present, he can step in when required

At this level, any mistake like that will be punished and he kept his head up when it could have easily dropped

If we are to progress I'd be surprised if he is still here at the end of the summer transfer window but I will still be a bit gutted when he goes
