Xhaka not happy with the early leavers

Don’t know why this hasn’t got more likes, it sums up this season perfectly. We burst into the scene all guns blazing, built up a small head of steam and played exceptional football then right after AFCON it seems the wheels just fell off. We’ve got slower, less creative and it’s even hard to pick out a fluid shape or formation on the field. We looked totally lost on Saturday. The refusal to change what isn’t working until 70+ minutes into the game also doesn’t help
It's almost as if we've had a slew of injuries to key players or summit.

I didn't think we looked lost at all on Saturday. If anything, it was a more cohesive performance than recent weeks. We just lacked that bit of quality in front of goal.

At present, we're missing Le Fee, Mukiele and Reinildo, and we're short on the wings anyway. That's a lot of quality not on the pitch.

Like i said, either way win or lose, fans often leave early because the traffic is a nightmare, it took me 1 and a half hour to get home as I live in Darlington.(Im driving) trains/buses are useless too.

If traffic is such an issue then maybe coming to an event with over 40,000 people there isnt for you. Or maybe even hang back a bit if you can.

The weapon who was having a go at someone at the Fulham game who called them out for leaving early complained they had a 30 mile trip to make FFS - thats just bollocks.

Strange how how the traffic or work or family events or long journeys seem to only happen when we're getting beat or not playing well.

I realise that people have reasons to be places, but I stay till the end and am happy to add extra time for the match experience 19 times a year. There was an exodus on 87 minutes which meant that people leaving 11 minutes before the end, I know we were struggling and didn't look like we were going to pull it round but I think they deserve our support.

All I read here is ‘you get supported when it’s going well, but if players are struggling a bit and the squad is depleted with injuries, you can fuck off until you’re playing well again’…

That’s my interpretation… what we want Premiership football of championship?
It’s decided on the pitch but people are clueless if they don’t realise the players feed off the fans.
In elite sport, a psychological advantage is a massive advantage

Sorry mate but I don’t see the big deal in that 🤷🏻… if you were using public transport you would use half that stood on platforms or walking to stops etc

A high percentage of goals are scored 85 mins onwards ...sometimes play goes to 90 plus 10. These 15 mins are when the winning team usually retreat and the team goal down push. So it's when you want the fans to be as vocal as possible... influence the officials etc.....its sad we don't do this and leave in numbers.....it is such a psychological advantage to opposing team

I hang around the ground in the founders, wander back to the Riverside MSCP about 5.30ish, and drive home to Seaham and am back generally before 6pm. No bother at all.

If you're trying to get away in the immediate aftermath of an event with nigh on 50k punters there, you're going to hit traffic.

f***ing pig sick of it man. It was the same before half time too, ground was practically half empty by the time the ref blew his whistle.

We'd absolutely slaughter the mags if they did this. Ground started emptying from about 83 minutes, it was absolutely bizarre. We had 8 minutes added time in a game where we were losing one-nil and people are filing out.

This wasn't happening earlier in the season so what has changed?
Some fans think we should be challenging for European football in our first season because we surpassed early expectations. We could be, but let's be honest if we scraped in to Europe they'd be expecting champions League football. It's the case with nearly every football fan. We're never satisfied.

Well he stood there facing the crowd chuntering on at them for some time in what appeared to be a disapproving way.

Three things were happening
1. Crowd exodus
2. Nothing coming from crowd in terms of support
3. I saw one fan on his feet gesticulating back towards him.

It was a bit of a Celia Smith moment without the microphone.,

Only Xhaka wasn’t drunk and he looked angry.

Pleased he did it because if it was allowed I would do the same thing and Iam not Granit Xhaka

Power to you Granit son, you know what it takes to be successful at this level on the pitch.

Over to the fans is it ‘til the end’ or ‘I will f..k off when I want to’
Granit knas.

Thing is, it makes mockery of the whole 'Til The End campaign.

We gave a fantastic account of ourselves in the play-offs, and we built up some momentum and a real connection with the players. The club can only do so much. The players and Regis have gone on record numerous times to say how much the fans can help, yet on Saturday, the crowd was flat as fuckin' fart.

Whilst the going was good, and the new lads were coming in and seeing us at our best, I always wondered how long it would before we showed our other side. We're such a bipolar fanbase at times, and of course the players will pick up on that.

Sunderland AFC - best fans in the world... when they want to be.

Makes you wonder why that extra 30 minutes getting home is so important to people.... especially when it's a Saturday at 5.30pm when most people's diary are free at that time of day and there is no work to goto next day....what actually are people doing between 5.30 and 6.30 if they are home...I suggest not a lot

Bang on.

I actually thought we were relatively okay on Saturday, definitely a lot better than the Port Vale game (admittedly that’s a very low bar).

I think if we had 2 or 3 of those players who are out injured starting, we’d have beat Brighton on Saturday.

Get the likes of Roefs, Le Fee, Mukiele & Reinildo back and I’d expect us to look a lot better.

"People pay their money, they can leave when they want" is such a cop out.

Factually true, yes, but that's just a shit way of excusing what is wholly unsupportive behaviour.

I have absolutely no basis for working this out, but I wonder what percentage of those leaving early have only just started coming back to games this season.

100%

Its an excuse people make up to try and justify their actions in leaving early. If you want to leave early, then fine, but own it and just admit you're leaving early because we're getting beat.

Heard a fella say on Saturday when everyone was leaving for "work" on 87 minutes 35k attendance with people staying is far better than 42k where 7k walk out before the end, he's not wrong.

They certainly can. And they can say frig all when the rest of us call them customers and not supporters. 'Cos that's all they are.

The people around me who move about during the game and inevitably leave early aren't familiar faces, so my guess based on that alone would be a high one.

I appear to leave before ft but walk pitchside from se corner back row then jump in some of the many departed se corner seats till whistle.

Suprised none of us noticed this. Im not saying for a second it didnt happen like mate.
