Xhaka not happy with the early leavers

Rarely leave early myself but that’s not me having a go at people who do,maybe give the fans summit to shout about granit and maybe they wouldn’t leave as much as they did yesterday…🤷🏻‍♂️

Thing is there’s definitely a ‘here we go again’ mentality in our fan base and history has proved it to be correct. We are quite self deprecating but it’s typical Sunderland to lose to bottom of League 1 and then have the wheel come off what’s been a brilliant season.

Every time we’ve been anywhere near getting our act together since moving to the SoL, it ultimately turns out to built on sand and very quickly unravels.

I’m already concerned about next season, because we’re not playing well and the points form at the minute is relegation scrap levels. I think it’s fair to assume recent form is more relevant than what we achieved in the first half of the season.
This is a brilliant take.

I don’t know how we break the ‘cycle’ either.

Now we have the waiting list for fans, these early leavers cards need to start getting marked.

Too late for this year, but no reason repeated offenders can’t be turfed out after next season.
Half the people on the waiting list would back away when giving the option of actually stumping the money up for a ticket.

People won’t like it, but this is spot on. We simply never kick on. No matter our start and it’s probably why this mentality kicks in.

Best start to a season in 99 years = finished 4th

Best start/point tally/home form of a promoted team in years = currently very poor

Survival is still a remarkable achievement but there seems to be this opinion on this forum that fans are not allowed to want more. If the club and players truly believe we’re safe, then let’s try and play a bit more attacking football, we have nothing to lose.

It’s not hard to accept that if we were 6th or 7th and in the quarter final of the FA Cup, or scoring more than 1 goal from open play in 8 games, there would be a bit more cheer around the place.

I've given my ticket in the posh seats to a relative the last few weeks, I go to football to be entertained, the football we play is abysmal and frustrating. I usually leave with nail marks in my palms because I clench so much.

I don't mind losing if they show passion and aggression, but they are whimpering about and some of them can't be arsed.

I am far from negative but with a glass half full it could be said there are similarities with Sheffield united a few years back. Flying in the first season then tailed off a bit to finish mid table. Once that organisation, high energy runs out you need more to yr game to get results. We had that before Christmas, we haven't shown that we have it since then imo.

Haven't a clue about stats etc. That's just based on what I have watched
Sheffield United went and spent £25m on Rhian Brewster that summer tbf.

Of course fans are allowed to want more. But its not going to happen as a newly promoted team and with half the first 11 injured. That doesn't make it a disgrace or worth sacking the manager over.

We do have something to lose though, the club have a clear plan for this season. We clearly think that this style is likely to yield the maximum amount of points (it has been proven to be successful so far). We want the most points to finish in the highest position because then we can increase our revenue and status to aid with the next phase of recruitment.

I'm not saying I love it, but I think it is part of a clear and intelligent plan. There's something about it that I like, and that's the ability to stick to said plan through the full season.

I agree, it’s gonna take 2-3 seasons before we have injuries and hopefully PL standard squad players rotate. I do read a lot of comments where people are told to accept a £100m squad losing to Port Vale cos we lost to a team in league one 5 years ago.

Stop making things up. This hasn't happened.

There is a difference between giving your all and being effective?
The whole point of support is to get behind the team when they struggling and build them up to believe.
If all we have become is supporters who cheer when we are great…. Iam not sure if i want part of that
There's a difference between struggling and some players not being arsed, and that what some fans see, there was a few near me went with 10 minutes to go and ranting about Diarra when the filed passed, personally I think they had a point about Diarra's performance, and probably Talbi deserved to be slated as well, but most of the lads put good shift in, including Rigg.

Absolutely bang on.

Well done @Cack Stottie amd RR for calling it all out aswell.

Fans are going on embarrassing.

f***ing pig sick of it man. It was the same before half time too, ground was practically half empty by the time the ref blew his whistle.

We'd absolutely slaughter the mags if they did this. Ground started emptying from about 83 minutes, it was absolutely bizarre. We had 8 minutes added time in a game where we were losing one-nil and people are filing out.

This wasn't happening earlier in the season so what has changed?

Our fans in the man have very short attention spans.

If it’s not rough and tumble they get bored. And 38 games is certainly too long to retain their interest.

People look for any reason to not go or to leave.

“Midweek” “it’s on sky” “bairns got school in the morning” “owa lass is on early shift” “we don’t attack enough” blah blah blah.

Embarrassing and childish. They enjoy novelty as opposed to truly just wanting the team to get results.
