F1 2026

Looking to leave F1 in the next few years to pursue other racing, with this a start?

I think he could leave f1 at the end of the season. If Mercedes continue to dominate with George and Kimi comfortably 1-2 why would they fork out for Verstappen?

It was a fun race to watch, at least for the first 15 laps, but at the same time it's not really racing.

The driver behind uses their overtake button, burns through a bunch of their battery charge which then leaves them without enough charge to defend, so the driver they've overtaken passes them back almost straight away.

Yes it means you get more overtakes, but at the same time it all felt artificial.
To me it felt more relevant to the real world - most will be driving electric cars within a decade - it’s nearly ten years since I got my first one (although I haven’t been exclusive electric only since then) and I enjoyed it.

It’ll be interesting to see how drivers and teams get to grips with the new tech and new strategies as the season progresses.

First a triple firing in The Apprentice and then the first third of yesterday’s race. WATTBA!

The state of this man ! I despise influencers
i get that, but i doubt they were first person to end up quaffing champers in the f1 paddock without a clue to who anyone was... but that they were themselves rich and/or influential for whoever the sponsor of the specific event might have been (be that now or back in the 90s).
.

The perks of a semi street circuit… 😂

First James Vowles and now Andrea Stella pretty much saying Mercedes are witholding information from customer teams when it comes to the PU and it will take time to work eveything out. Need Toto Wolff's smug grin wiped off his face asap.
Guess this is what you're referring to...

They've been given the fastest engine, and I'm guessing they've had it for a while now... Is this just sour grapes at being so much slower than the Merc?
You would expect the works team to have greater knowledge on how to the the most out of their own engine.

I think both williams & mclaren are saying they have been given the fastest engine, but no owners manual... so its trial & error when it comes to how best to use the highly complicated technology.

If I ran Mercedes I would want an advantage over the other teams.

Rumours that Bahrain and Saudi races to be cancelled with what’s going on. Apparently Antonelli & Hadjar were talking about it on a flight and was overheard

Think skyf1 were saying liberty had set a date for a final decision, possibly Friday (not sure). Think the main takeaway is the season would be two races shorter, no covid style replacement races (Japanese double header was another rumour).

I think the deadline for a decision I heard was March 20th - basically as late as possible for all the logistics/freight stuff.

It's not looking likely though. Not sure many of the drivers and team members would be too happy about told to head somewhere you get bombed. Not to mention the extra insurance premiums I bet all the teams would have to pay!

Ferrari bringing in their 'macerena' rear wing for Shanghai. They have to do something to combat Mercs straight line speed. That 1km straight could be make or break this race.

Data suggests Hamilton was probably the most aggressive during the Aussie race. If that wing can really give them an extra 10kph. They might give the silver arrows a bigger fight.

Maybe Ferrari could use one of their special fuel flow meters!

Ahem, nothing to see here.

Get rid of the electric motors. Bring back V10’s.

Less regulation and let’s go racing.
I’m no fan of Max but I respect his views on the current state of racing probably because it reflects my own views

I don’t like the electric stuff. The management of electrical power does not sit well with me.

I want to see a purer, less regulated F1.

Big V10 petrol engines that scream at 17,000 revs.

Cap them at three litres and let the designers go wild.

Stipulate a max length/width/weight.

But let’s be free with the aero and fuel tanks.

What do I know? Let’s see what China throws up.
I don't mind the hybrid concept in theory but you're right, the ICE should be the primary focus. Electric power should only be supplemental. Otherwise you may as well run Formula E.

Whats the split? 50 50? Should be 70-80 internal combustion and 20-30 electric for me.

It’s old fashioned I know. But I like big petrol engines and I know that electric motors give unbelievable tourque but for me it’s a visceral thing. The noise and how it makes you feel.

And the smell. I love the smell of fuel. If ever there is a two stroke bike in front of me I wind the window down in the hope of getting some of that two stroke smell!

I’m never going to embrace electric motors but I acknowledge that they are the future. It’s just such a pity the past was such a fabulous place.

Russell is going to be even more insufferable if/when he wins the title this year isn’t he?

Yeah, standard F1, expecting a team to do something against their interests. Not going to happen lol

He speaks like he's a mult time champion who knows everything. Its really grating.
