Obviously, you can't give an instant when it suddenly changed. Like any malaise, it's gradual. That's obvious. I cannot take you seriously.
It’s never been gradual it’s always been perceived as bad for the 13 years I have been on this board.

That’s the point if it was gradual they would be time in the past when people said it was better.

But simply that never has happened and tbh the way refs are judged it never will be

Do you not think its perceived as a lower standard because the scrutiny is much more intense compared to years gone by? Do you think if you dropped refs in from a different era into the modern game they'd do the job better?

The scrutiny is more intense but I'm expressing my personal view-I never read or watch media views.officials from previously were dealing with a more honest era. Far more gamesmanship in the game now which makes it far more difficult but,I'll reiterate for the umpteenth time, officials have brought this upon themselves by being increasingly lax in clamp in down on this. Thank you and goodnight, finally. End of discussion.

I'm beginning to think to save coin they don't even have VAR assistants monitoring our games. There's just a grappling dummy stuffed into a chair decked out in a ref's kit with a comedy wig on.

We're discussing different issues and I'm surprised you can't see that. There'll always be criticism of officials which you judge unfair with some justification. I'm arguing the case for higher standards of refereeing and how it can be achieved.
It was easier in the past I'm talking far more than 13 years ago-the game was slower and there was less gamesmanship. This gamesmanship has gradually increased but officials have been lax in clamping down on it.
How many times have I got to repeat that
There will always be criticism of referees and it's on the increase -as with all areas involving discipline and control. It's the era we live in.
I'm not talking about this board-a lot of it is ott but you're not going to change that no matter how persistent you are.
Good article on corner chaos on BBC website-at least the issue is now been recognised.

Chris Foy is impressed with their work, possibly as part of a concerted effort to improve the image of the referees due to their terrible work.

He seemed to have missed completely the penalty / non penalty in our game ... probably as it is indefensible and we don't matter.

Anyway, nice work referees.

They really are so up themselves it's untrue at times imo.

They are loving this VAR bollox as its more jobs for the boys and makes the refs celebrities/centre of attention.

Traffic wardens are becoming more popular than these charlatans.

If gamesmanship has increased which I agree it has.

There should be a constructive conversation on how we can help refs on the field.

Authorities should look at replays after games ban players for a considerable time when they have seen perfect replays and know for certain a particular player has dived/cheated that may stop it and make it easier for refs going forward.

To expect a ref in real time to spot all the gamesmanship on the field is unfair and all the evidence shows that to be the case.

For the sake of your argument if you want to achieve higher standards let’s help them let’s think of way to stop cheating.

Instead (not by you) we have a high number of people just simply abusing them every week, not understanding the obvious high difficulty of having to make real time decisions in proven difficult circumstances.

You even have grown up men who think certain refs have purposely given decisions against their club because they don’t like their club.

I mean do me a favour.

If we want to achieve the higher standards you after the whole culture needs to change and look at other sports and the culture they have towards officiating and start to help these blokes not abuse them.

Because if the culture doesn’t change we have no chance of doing soo, and more and more possible good refs taking up the game will think ‘fuck that’ they is no way I am taking this game up to be abused week in week out.

How convenient he skipped over the most blatant decision of the weekend. Tosser.
