Yes, it is possible to recall a loan player from a club outside of the January transfer window, but only under specific, restricted circumstances rather than at any time.
Key Rules for Recalling Outside January
Goalkeepers: A parent club can recall a goalkeeper at any time (often with 24 hours' notice) if they do not have two fit senior goalkeepers available.

That's an extremely painful injury. To sustain that during a game and just crack on without much drama, must be hard as nails. (If it's true)

It’s not ideal but Roefs will have interest in the summer so would rather test out the new lad when it’s relatively “safe” than the start of next season if RR has left.
