A Depot near b and q Washington is called NewcastleMakro at Washington calls itself Makro Newcastle.
Everything in Washington identifies itself as Newcastle. Premier Inn, Holiday Inn and Campanile hotels in Ayton. George Washington Golf Course and Hotel. The big parcel depot near B&Q. Spire Hospital is covered in Tyneside wall art. There's even a takeaway in Harraton called Tyne Pizza. Literally roll down the hill in Harraton and you'll eventually roll into the Wear!A Depot near b and q Washington is called Newcastle

I think if anyone is quoting distances they're picking the city centres as a standard destination. The signposts will be.That might be true if you're going by the centre of the city centres on Google maps.
To get from CLS to somewhere like Rhyope must be about 7 miles. Some areas of Sunderland probably even closer.
But that doesn't make it 'closer to Newcastle' at all does it?I think if anyone is quoting distances they're picking the city centres as a standard destination. The signposts will be.
Mate I really couldn't give two flying fucks either way just pointing out the obvious that sane people without hang ups on anything Newcastle related will look to the signposts that clearly say it is closer to Chester-le-Street.But that doesn't make it 'closer to Newcastle' at all does it?
Its like me standing in herrington and saying i'm not really in Sunderland because the city centre is 4 miles that way.
Absolute shite tbhMate I really couldn't give two flying fucks either way just pointing out the obvious that sane people without hang ups on anything Newcastle related will look to the signposts that clearly say it is closer to Chester-le-Street.
To London yes. I imagine there is also a designated spot in Sunderland City Centre that distances are measured to.I thought all distances were measured from Charing Cross
It's usually measured from the town hall in any town or city.To London yes. I imagine there is also a designated spot in Sunderland City Centre that distances are measured to.
It says Bovril on busses but they don't sell it.Mate I really couldn't give two flying fucks either way just pointing out the obvious that sane people without hang ups on anything Newcastle related will look to the signposts that clearly say it is closer to Chester-le-Street.
What's that big orange and grey building on the retail park at Deptford then? There is no b and q in Sunderland tbf.
Washy needs to sort itself out. The councillors should demand that all businesses there identify as being in the city of Sunderland.Everything in Washington identifies itself as Newcastle. There's even a takeaway in Harraton called Tyne Pizza. Literally roll down the hill in Harraton and you'll eventually roll into the Wear!. If you live here, it's like being part of Newcastle.
Just ask her what it says on her wheelie bin.......A lass at work was massively triggered when I mentioned washington is in sunderland (she lives there). I corrected her a few times per the facts i.e
that she literally lives in sunderland, but she was adamant it's not sunderland. ('ne post code' etc). It got really awkward so I just had to let it go rather than unpack the whole thing. Weird
Washington has been apart of Sunderland since 1964...A lass at work was massively triggered when I mentioned washington is in sunderland (she lives there). I corrected her a few times per the facts i.e
