ID checks for away tickets

100% agree, and if shit hits the fan and we end up in a similar position in years to come, they won’t give a fuck again, they really have tightened the screw on every single aspect of ticketing and I can’t see any positives.
When I first started going I’d obtain tickets from all over, and when I built my own points up I no longer needed the help.
Be loads of genuine ‘spare tickets’ a season available for similar use and it’s never been an issue. No one ever profited, always fv. Wait till we’re getting pumped most weekend again in a few years time, none of this twisting on tickets will be a thing

Yeah I was 1 point short for the play off semi, chased twice and eventually got it added
I was 3 pts short a few seasons back (was Mansfield in cup plus another couple) tried to get them back but they were not interested so just wrote them off to be fair as have enough anyway. When I checked recently I am also missing Fulham cup replay but that will drop off next season. That Fulham game put me 1 pt off phase 1 for Brentford, Oxford and Bournemouth. Managed to get all three so its no longer an issue for me as that will also drop off in the summer and I am finally where I should be points wise for next season as we are unlikely to get another low allocation.

If I’m being honest I don’t really think this argument about children being left inside or outside is that big of a deal.

The same thing would happen if a paper tickets barcode got wet and wouldn’t scan, the tickets barcode didn’t print correctly, a physical NFC season card didn’t work for whatever reason etc.

You would like to think the stewards would have common sense to be able to deal with that situation and get the child and parents reunited and then allow the ticket office staff to solve whatever the problem is.

It would obviously be bad if it happened to you, but I’m not sure it’s a reason to stop ID checks in this way. In the same way that I don’t think the other issues I’ve mentioned mean we should go back to just having manned turnstiles instead
Tend to agree here- using the underground, a ticket often won’t scan and I’m separated from my kids. What I tend to do is say to them, “Just wait there, I’ll sort out my ticket” then go and find a member of staff to let me through- no problem- and that is in London which I always read on here is the most dangerous place on earth.

The bigger “safeguarding” issues I see at the match are people who, through one reason or another, are in such a state that they shouldn’t be left in charge of their kids.

I think if anything this will make it even more of a closed shop. Some people will stop going that picker and choosed. But the ones in 40/50 points will go and therefore nobody else will ever get a chance!
I am on 71 pts now and if anything the ID checks make me want to go to even more than I do already. Rumours of 'ballots' reducing the gauranteed allocation, just makes me more determined to stay in phase 1.

I worked out I am on roughly 75% of away games over the 3 seasons plus this one and I have been in the phase 2 scramble three times this season (Brentford, Oxford and Bournemouth). Once the cull happens in the summer that will rise to 85% and I should be gauranteed for the likes of Brentford, Bournemouth and possibly Wrexham next season.
If they’re on holiday why did they buy a ticket?
Exactly. I will be on holiday if we make the FA Cup quarter final so I won't be buying a ticket for that. I also cannot make the Aston Villa game due to family commitments so won't buy one for that either even though I will be in phase 1 for both.

Similar position to you but I’m on 68. Only lose 6 in the cull though so should be phase 1 every game now

I’m on 81 and lose 23 in the cull. That’s going to put me in dodgy territory for next seasons Lower allocations I think. Depending on what those above me lose naturally
Don't think so. You'll most likely start next season over 60 points. If Brentford and Bournemouth are played at the same stage of the season you'll be over 70 points still (if you keep going ofc lol)

That’s not great but at least it was resolved.

The way people go on on here is that your kid is instantly in grave danger if you happen to end up on 2 sides of the same fence which is just scare lingering really.
They don’t anymore, find out when you get to the turnstile and it doesn’t let you in
This is the case if you have been targeted as a likely offender.
Night before mate
This is the case if your ticket has been randomly selected.

Aye mate randomly if your targeted no warning at all, was lucky 1 of me mates was on the other side other wise 8 year old in there by himself.

How far in advance have they been giving notice for ticket checks?

As per notes from supporters meeting:

At each away game 10 tickets are checked; five are random, five are targeted. Tickets are targeted if suspicious activity is suspected. The Club gives notice to fans randomly selected that a check will be required, via email, the day before the game. Targeted tickets are not notified.

Think it’s the seeing people above losing not many points and then possibly ending up with more, thats the game though.

I’ll end up 87/88 by end of season, think I’m doing every away and will be under cup fever from here on out!
