Takeaways

Only really bother with a particular indian round our way as it is good quality but now costs about £75 for 4 of us which is ridiculous. Probably have 4 or 5 a year.

Mate of mine who used to use the same takeaway now orders this:
- reckons its superb for same money but gets 2 meals out of the delivery
Fancy asking yer mate how long use by dates generally are mate?

Absolutely shite aren’t they when you really think about it when you take into consideration the quality of the food and prices , I think it’s mainly down to laziness as to why people get them , i am one of them .

Just spent £25 (including delivery fee)on a Naan bab there and it was absolutely bang average, as most are tbh.

Waste of money , could have got and made a lot of decent food for that if I’d went shopping instead . I think I’m going on a takeaway ban , that was my first one in 2 weeks tonight believe it or not.

Thoughts
I’ve just had 2 courses in the cook ànd barker in Northumberland ( lamb as main-crab bisque to start -that’s soup to me ) and was incredible for 25 squid
Therefore I would agree totally Coxy

Always fancied trying that actually but never got round to it

Rarely get them now and if we do, it's usually an Indian as it's better quality and you get far more for your money. Looking at between £20-£25 for a pizza and a kebab wrap with delivery included now and it's just not worth it. Can get an Indian for around £40 and that'll be 2 starters, 2 mains, rice, naan, poppadum's and a pickle tray.

Fakeaway’s are the answer. Can pretty much knock up anything I’d order from a takeaway as good as or even better for a fraction of the cost. Only downside is the time and mess it creates

We started doing that a while ago, got doner kebab, parmos, chinese and Turkish sorted, only thing we can’t replicate at home is a proper BIR curry. Tried a few different base sauces but they don’t come out right.

Buy some Pinch of Nom books and follow recipes. Delicious fresh food, easy to cook and you know exactly what went in.

We only get an occasional Indian takeaway or Fish & Chips. Never have Chinese, pizza, kebabs etc. We probably average one takeaway per month over a year.

If he only gets two meals out of a delivery box he's got a large family or a big kite. The smoked leg of lamb box is superb.

all freezeable

We get one most Fridays cos the kids are usually at footy or swimming so order on the way home, the 2 we use usually have offers on through the apps - 3 curries, 2 rice, 2 naan costs about 20quid usually

Since COVID the prices have become a joke.

Pardon the pun but it will bite them in the arse , loads of people I know do t order them anymore, as an example a Chinese I orders from for years, pre COVID was around £28 .

EXACT SAME ORDER NOW £47.

Na.

aye its getting ridiculous for a takeaway really, we usually have one on a saturday night, but to be perfectly honest its costing too much

theres 3 of us, 3 mains with sides including delivery from our chinese is about £32 inc delivery, Indian is a rare one as the bairn isnt that keen, you could add at least £10 on top of that cost

Even the local pizza place is getting ridiculous, 2 Large pizza's are about £12 each sometimes more depending on toppping, If we can find an offer Dominos is actually cheaper

Agree with the cost, these days it's easily a tenner a head.
Sometimes the kids are round with partners and the missus start going on about a takeaway.
I'm sitting there looking at 8 adults knowing it's going to cost about £90.

I'm sitting there looking at a bang average Chinese, knowing it's cost me nearly £100.
Even the old staple of a 5 course Indian has gone up from £6.99 to about £18, it's just not worth it.

local kebab shop wanting £15 for tikka and kofta wrap, had salt and pepper chicken with rice and chips and curry sauce at my local Pub for £14

Na.
To be fair to the takeaways they have to make money, I've ordered stuff before and thought what was the point in them cooking and delivering all that for the sake of £15, can't have been making much. Everything has gone up its ridiculous but that's for another thread

Bog standard Chinese is easily the worst even though it’s usually the cheapest. There is a nice pan Asian restaurant in Low Fell we go to and also order from though that is very decent and a class above most Chinese style takeaway food. Not cheap though. Indian is probably pound for pound the best and most consistent, but aye on the whole it’s not far off eating out prices these days.
