i keep telling people we are back where we belong. Top 8 based on league titles.

The current top 8 is exactly that if you swap Brentford for Everton....it was exactly that a few weeks ago.

Steady progression/stability, good cup runs/hopefully europe...i may be being greedy but surely we have to hope that we can achieve some/all of the above?

I wonder what Villa fans thought when they got promoted via play off finals in 2019...sitting 3rd right now and in europa league - if theyd beaten Brentford at weekend theyd be 2nd, four points off arsenal
 
Obviously no team, especially not Sunderland, is going to go through a full season without the odd shit result. But the defeat away at Burnley and draw away at Brighton really f***ing annoy me.

Brighton was the first game of AFCON so we were adapting, Burnley we just didn't turn up and it was there first home game back in the PL. They're the 2 games I really felt like we let points slip. I think it's at least 3 points dropped there.

Why wouldn't we ever be challenging for the league at the rate we've improved as a team still in its infancy as a unit the sky's the limit. I'm really looking forward to a cup run and a big finish to the season.

My expectations every season is a team that is competitive, gives everything and who at least dream of winning things. With that mentality alone, eventually we will either be close or it will happen. Win or lose I'll always back that team and be satisfied.

We have been conditioned over decades to expect the worst. For the first time in a long time, I'm looking up.

Don't be silly, that is saved for my end of days like Wagner and Opium. I enjoy his frenemy Oliver StJohn Gogarty though and Flann O'Brien as they aren't as psychologically mature.

Yeah just steady progression, no head losses if we have a bad season as long as we don’t go down. If you take the carabooooo cup seriously there’s every chance you can get to the quarters semis etc without much stress as the mags have shown. Unless we hit it super lucky one season we won’t be challenging for league titles it would take Leicester city levels of luck to do that anytime soon. As long as we see some progression and good players coming and going I’d be happy. Would love to win a cup though before I die 😝

I know a lot of people scoff at that competition but some very decent clubs have taken part and some beauty away trips among these.
