Geertruida

So Liverpool have agreed a deal for a 60M right back in the summer.

In reality they weren’t going to pay 10 million odd in compensation and a loan fee plus wages for 18 games.

With that pending I doubt it would also suit Geertruide in terms of certainty about his future.

All in all I doubt it was just our plans that stopped it but probably Liverpool and his personal future prospects.

He's a centre back mate.

I'm confident the club read mine and a few other posters criticisms and realised they shouldn't let him go. It was obvious the club was open to the move this morning, then changed their minds.

I think one of the posts that made them think twice is when I said we shouldn't get a reputation of being pushovers, who will let any player leave when a club comings knocking, or else they'll be unsettling our players all the time.

I said we should raise the compensation demands and this might have also put Liverpool off.

Lutsharel Geertruida: A potential loan deal with Liverpool didn't fall through because of RB Leipzig. RB was willing to talk and open to a solution with the Reds and Sunderland. However, concrete talks between Leipzig and Liverpool didn't materialize because Sunderland ultimately wasn't prepared to let Geertruida go.

The Dutchman would have liked to move to Anfield, but will now finish the season in the northeast of England. Sunderland rejected the transfer and still have an option to buy him (~€23 million € ).

Interesting Liverpool sources saying the same. I'm surprised that this is the case given our model, which presumably means we wouldn't stand in a player's way if a champions League type club came in ?

You’re obviously very influential

Glad it looks like he's staying. I'm sure he'll be fine about it tbh, if it was a permanent deal that was scuppered maybe his head would go a bit. But it looks like all they wanted was a loan with no likely prospect of signing him. He'll be a bit disappointed like, but needs to focus on trying to get into the world cup side and trying to impress to see what options he's got in the summer because, if he decides he'd rather be somewhere else, I'm sure it'll happen. If he lets it affect him it'll harm him as much as us, can't see it happening

Thanks for doing this marra. Really respect your work and everything you've done for this club in recent times (e.g. in sending Beale on his way) ♥️

To be fair, wakoro criticised Beale the night he lost his star wars wallet, and Beale was sacked soon after. Makes you think...

We might not have stood in his way if (a) we owned him, (b) Liverpool offered a decent fee to buy him off us and (c) we had time to get replacements in.

Not sure why we'd accommodate when there's next to nothing in it for us and it also weakens us.

Your not wrong, but as wacky as ever in you’re premise that the club are taking any notice of you as a pseudonym. Your not real you don’t exist, none of us do

Thanks Wako we owe you big time 👏

File this alongside other RTG truisms

1. Geertruida stayed because he was promised more playing time

2. Speakman picks the team

3. KLD didn’t want promotion and has lost interest in the club

4. RLB didn’t like Mike Dodds and you could “tell by the way he looked at him” he was thinking “Oi, calm down. I’m the gaffer”

5. Enzo wanted to leave because Diarra stotted a ball of his head in training

6. The key to a successful play off campaign is momentum

7. Once Tommy Watson agreed to go to Brighton, he should never have been allowed to wear a Sunderland shirt again.

8. Sunderland took the entire gate takings from the Derby In exchange for the BCB

Etc.

Ah another casual £60m dropped on a signing to go along with:

Isak: £125m
Wirtz: £115m
Ekitike: £80m
Van Dijk: £75m
Allison: £65m
Nunez: £65m
Szoboszlai: £60m
Konate: £50m
Mane: £40m
Fabinho: £40m
Gakpo: £40m

Just how can the socialist reds ever hope to compete? Remember Jurgen saying they cannot compete with Man Citys oil money and Slot moaning about his small squad depth
