Geertruida

They don’t want to buy him
Yeah, I just read that above after I'd posted. Very odd that his parent club would go for that without the option to purchase like we have. Unless they think he could be worth more to sell or even keep themselves after a stint with Liverpool? Frustrating as he's a great option in our team.

Looked at this at 7.09am this morning f and there was a possibility that Geertruda was off to Liverpool either as a permanent with us signing him and then selling him on or his loan being transferred to Liverpool.

Can someone summarise the subsequent 1500 posts and let me know what we’ve learnt since post 1?
Seems Sunderland hold all the cards. A transfer of the loan agreement to L’pool is the request. Terms agreed with the player. Sunderland happy to facilitate the move only if they can find an adequate replacement in time. Oh, and we may be entitled to compo if he goes (£3 -4m is the speculation)
That’s my assessment of the current status 🤷‍♂️

If that was the case he wouldnt have been on the bench. In fact he wouldnt have even been in the squad.

It doesn’t work that way. We might have been desperate. Aka Dan Neil on bench all season … anyway he hasn’t gone yet.
Message to all players .. if your not committed you don’t play

He has indeed.

10 - Starting line up
7 - Came off the bench
3 - Unused sub
And the sub appearances were mainly when he very first signed for us a couple of games already into the season, so it's common in that sort of situation you need a bit of time for the player to get used to the club.

He's obviously an incredibly useful player for us but at the end of the day, most players would jump at the chance to play for Liverpool over us, even if he doesn't get as many minutes for them

Not that confident for Burnley now, without Xhaka or Gert the centre looks physically weak against a physical team like Burnley. Obviously we can't put Enzo on the wing anymore he'll be in the middle, so our wing also looks dubious, unless Luke plays CDM...

double bubble for them, they won’t be the ones repaying us they then get another loan fee for him.

Can’t see any scenario where he stays here in this window. Yes we can block the move, however we would have a player who won’t perform at his best when in the team. It’s why the transfer window should be closed during the season for me

yeah it is a shit time for it to come out.
He’s got a World Cup squad place to play for. I think he’d be fine if he doesn’t leave provided he gets some game time.

Only works for me if we are bringing better or more needed player. He’s a first team player ffs, and we have a small squad to start with.

Smacks of penny pinching to me.

He’s getting game time here. Now we know why he did get on at West Ham. Screw the bin dippers.
