Geertruida

The reason Geertruida would have been such a good signing is that you’re buying a first team quality CB, RB and CM for £20m

Buying those players individually costs £50m+
This!

If he goes we need to go and buy a centre back & centre mid.

I doubt it will be double, but yeah, pretty much this.

We paid Leipzig a loan fee for the season and then have an option to buy agreed, so they have no say in the deal really.

Geertruida wants Liverpool so he would go through the necessary steps. Him rejecting it would mean he stays with us until the end of the season and Liverpool sign him from Leipzig in the summer.
Liverpool need him now. They might have better options to choose from in the summer.

We don't know the terms of the contract ( or at least I don't).

Gerty may have no choice in the matter if we want to exercise our option (i.e. it may already be agreed) which would give us a significant say.

Not much point agreeing an option if the player can just sack it off to go elsewhere. Might as well just call it a straight loan.

They'll also have Frimpong and Bradley back in the summer, plus that young Italian centre back. If they weren't all injured, this wouldn't be happening, it's a freak scenario.

The club have done so much right since the playoff final that it’s only right we trust them to make the best decision for the club.

I’ve no issue with anyone wanting to leave Sunderland to go to Liverpool, providing that deal is right for us.

On the face of it, it would seem that we’ve made an error in not signing him permanently on the 1st of January, but there’s always more than meets the eye in these situations. He should’ve played more in my view, but I’m just a fan who is regularly wrong.

If he does go, we definitely need to get a replacement in before the window closes.

If he knows Liverpool and slot are sniffing, then he's gone, irrespective of whether he'd played every minute for us or not.

Hopefully we can pocket £10m or so from the deal and move on.

More good business by us

Explains the fella on a podcast saying Villa were sniffing around. Maybe was actually Liverpool or both. Can't see him staying so we better get it sorted and move on. Fucked tomorrow like. Hume in again unless Rigg comes in centre mid. O'Nien?
