Tommy Watson

So approx 25% of their pl games he's featured in, and now they're willing to loan him out - success story right there

It's the way that BHAFC, and other well-run clubs, do though, isn't it?

Here's some relevant examples:

Jan Paul van Hecke Bought in 2020 from NAC Breda as a 19-year-old. Immediately went on loan for two seasons to Herenveen and Blackburn Rovers, now a regular centre-back this season with 22 appearances.

Yasin Ayari Bought in 2023 as a 19-year-old from AIK in Stockholm, went on loan to Cov and Blacknrun for two seasons, now a regular in the PL this season with 20 appearances.

Stefanos Tzimas Bought last year as a 19-year-old (there's a theme here!). Now on loan at Nuremburg to get experience.

I could go on (there's a bunch more young pros at the club who are out on loan at present), but I won't.

So yeah, this is what they do and there'll be hopeful TW too will benefit and be able to step up when he returns to the club.

It's funny because we were linked with him in January 2025 as part of a possible Watson deal, so he's obviously been on our radar for a while

He's quick and skilful but gets knocked off the ball and makes poor decisions on what to do and when to do it IMO. I find him quite likeable and always seems positive in the club's clips even though he's having a slower season than some of the other recruits so I hope he does very well for us

He's what I would call a "floor raiser" in that he makes our squad better, but he's not a ceiling raiser in that he'll drag you to new heights with his ability. And I don't see why we needed to spend £20m for that type of player last summer

Either way, I should probably stop having a pop at Adingra in a Watson thread
I think it's okay to diversify.

At age 24, a full international, with 60 Premier League games at Brighton behind him and a £20m price tag, i would expect, and i'm sure Le Bris would have expected hm to be a regular for us and doing the business.

Sadly he's not, but you can't win them all.

Apart from THAT goal and 2 good games against Sheffield United, he never really looked that good.

Well I think that's unfair. Last season was his first in senior football as an 18 year old. He was inconsistent, which is to be expected. But he did show a lot of glimpses in games as to why Brighton invested in him. He also seemed to fill out very quickly and is very well built now. I still think that he has a bright future.

Yes but my point is - having seen Adingra play for Brighton a fair bit - I was not expecting any of that. I’m surprised the club were so keen to get him.

I don’t doubt they thought they’d be getting a reliable first team left winger

He needs a year in champ , would be a class signing for any club pushing for promotion , I do think he’s got it to make it in prem in , in couple years time

Saw him briefly in the league cup this season, albeit against poor opposition (didn't see the Arsenal game) and he looked very good. He needs games though.

Whether he's got the pace to play out wide in the PL and be effective I'm not sure, but at the point of seeing him against Oxford and Port Vale I was thinking Brighton might just have done well out of the Adingra out and Watson in with around 6 to 8 million their way.

I suppose like Mundle at the moment he wouldn't be up to PL level so he'd likely not have been much use this season anyway.

Had the choice between them, Southampton, Leicester and Stoke, so clearly the Alex Neil pull:rolleyes:
A chance to play in a side pushing for promotion and maybe a guarantee of minutes? Certainly wouldn't be looking to go to Leicester who have recently sacked their head coach or Southampton.

He's averaged less than 10 minutes per game. Only twice has he got more than 4 minutes on the pitch.

No young player is getting any significant benefit to their development with such short cameos. Much better to get him down to the Championship in a team where he'll play week in, week out for the rest of the season.
