Greek Island Holiday Help

I think one of the best things about the island of Skiathos is the efficient water taxi service from the town to various beaches. We always stay in the town and walk down to the harbour on a morning and go on the water taxi to Tsougria island, Kanapitsa, Achladies or Koukanaries, all great beaches with great scenery.
The town is classy with a friendly vibe and loads of eateries/ tavernas.
We ve been 18 times and are there again for 2 weeks in June.We do visit other countries but Skiathos is our place.
It’s also piss easy , you land within a mile or so of the town , just so easy , no wonder so many go back every year

Yep. 5 minutes max in the taxi and we are at our digs. Last time we landed 11.25am and we were having a welcome Mythos at the bar at 1155am !
We were there in September '24 and regularly walked along to the bar with the windmill near the end of the runway for a drink and a bite to eat.

Used to see loads of people walking to and from the airport - probably a 20-minute walk for most, depending on where in town their accommodation was.

We've just booked up for Rhodes. AI job with two 8 year old kids but will hire a car and get out and about when I can pull them away form the pool and waterslide

Looked on Google maps, you can see people with suitcases walking into town. We're probably within walking distance but should be dropped off quick being at that end of town

We used to base ourselves in hersonissos and ride out on motorbikes every morning so passed through Malia and watched the odd game . Stop over Chania end these days .
Variety is the spice of life!
If you're only a couple and aren't tied to school holidays I'm not sure it's worth booking in advance.

I love the greek island and went to Crete on a cheapy but good holiday in the July. Booked about a week before went (all holidays below the same), cost about £500 each for a week AI. We went out for 4 meals on an evening, We're not the type who pay for AI and won't move usually.

I'm currently in Lanzarote on my 3rd holiday this winter! Absolutely ridiculous last minute prices. I went to Fuertaventura in November for 4 nights AI, £251 each (from Manchester). Lovely digs with good reviews. The parking, diesel, hotel and night time meal cost about that 😂

Then a couple of weeks later we when to Lanzarote for 4 nights AI, £225 each from Newcastle. Fuck me it's giving it away. I admit we never moved from the digs as it was purely a cheapy which we would never have booked if it hadn't been so cheap.

This holiday cost £350 each mainly because my wife hummed and harred so much we let a couple of very good cheapies slip by. It was the weather she was concerned about but up popped a sunny period and here we again in 22 degrees saving on food and heating again.

We had 3 holidays for £1,650! This semi retirement lark isn't a bad life 😉
Did you book via tour op Keith or individually do it yourself?

The TUI app. Also check Jet2 but usually more expensive. I'm disabled so need the airport and transfers sorting. Don't want to be pulling out more for luggage etc.

There's a cheapy 4 night holiday leaving on Tuesday for Tenerife. £241 per person AI. I will be giving it some thought 😂

we're there from tuesday too

meet you at the irish bar (just off the main sq)

Get you . So much Greek choice

It's a big place 😄 . I love it
Say that but seems only Corfu and Kos seem to be the only real options for our dates. I'd love Skiathos but it's only available for a week.

I love Crete tbh just fancied another island.

I'd love Athens but not one for a load of family.

Looking for the start of October but doesn't seem many options from Newcastle.
That’s late on so the further south you go the better chance you have of good weather. Have you considered Cyprus ?
It’s not Greece but it’s Greek if you know what I mean. Protaras is nice with great beaches.

Where were you based before ? You like to look about or just chill in small places ?

Have been to Corfu, Rhodes and Kos and keep seeing Skiathos mentioned on here

Where is the best to stay there for two adults and a 16 year old?

Also what's the nightlife like? We ain't clubbers but don't want to go to bed and 11.30 either

A week here in August for wife's birthday. Anyone got an arm and leg spare please?

Just back from Los Cristianos, lovely weather at the moment ☀️

At the airport now, first 2 days loads of sunshine, Wednesday, a few showers, cloudy and sun. Today largely cloudy until half an hour before we had to leave, then clear blue skys! Warm and not windy the whole time. Hoody on a night time though.

If you want something small and friendly take a look at Agios Gordios on Corfu. From a taverna perspective there are some crackers on the beach to watch the sun setting on an evening
Aye it's canny. We stayed at the costas golden beach hotel. Some class walks right along the bay.
Bennys bar on the edge was outstanding.
