Thank you Dan Neil

This for me too

I suspect we will never know what has gone on behind the scenes to get the full picture of why it has played out like this
We signed better players in his position what's their to understand behind the scenes?

Not sure we can point towards the contract situation either given Cirkin got a run of games whilst in the same contract position.

RLB just mustn't have trusted him at this level. It's a shame the club won't get any decent fee for Dan, but we more than got our value out of him on the pitch. Would get a special reception if/when he comes back to the SOL
Cirkin was the only back up in that position though so not the same.

Even during AFCON there were still 3 players ahead of Neil.

Now it's confirmed I don't know how I feel about this. Almost every other player from last season was given a chance (Ballard, Hume, O'Nien, Isidor, Mayenda, Mundle, Rigg and even Roberts) and whilst there is no shame in him not being up to the standard, you could argue he never got the opportunity to confirm that theory.

Anyway, in Regis we trust. Best of luck Dan
Roberts hardly got a chance, I think 63rd minute sub losing to Burnley his only PL game.

A difficult one with Dan Neil. I think he may have gambled on a new contract being decided after promotion or if not promoted more beneficial for his transfer. I think the players were caught out by the change in our transfer spending and profile. There were games I expected him to get a chance hut Rigg got those instead.

He hasn't progressed as I expected but his personal development, with little in the way of support on the pitch, was sacrificed for the good of the team. I never saw him as a defensive midfielder.

He has been a great player at times for us, concentration his main flaw, I loved it when he'd carry the ball as if nobody was there and that is still in his game, along with a great range of passing. Glad he has gone to Ipswich, a decent club. Hope he thrives alongside Jack.

Will always be one of my favourite players, loved him in L1 and Championship, gutted he didnt get his chance but I do agree with the club being ruthless.

Aye that’s the point.

They’re conspicuous by their absence. That with the fact he’s had no game time, was taken off in the play off final lends itself to the idea he just wasn’t rated by Reg.
I have a lot of time for Dan, a great club servant, but Régis deciding to hook him at Wembley helped us win the game - and promotion.
Don't know if he was carrying a knock, but he was very poor in that first half. It may have influenced Le Bris moving forward.

Didn't sub him until circa 70 mins, not half time

I think in Cirkin's case it's the club holding off given his injury history - could he get fit, show he was PL level then earn a new contract.
With Dan Neil, we are led to believe he turned down several offers and that has maybe changed some opinions about him.

We don't know of course, it's all conjecture.

It’s a sad day but a good move for both the player and the club. End of an era in a way. Dan Neil should be immensely proud of his part in getting the club back to where they belong. In one of the most turbulent times in the clubs history Dan came through the youth setup and whilst in league 1 was one of the few players that give the fans any sort of hope. He was one of our own. Hope he goes onto to have a fantastic career.
Yeah hope he smashes it, nothing but good things to say about Dan.

If we weren't going to play him under almost any circumstances, which has turned out to be the case, then we should have sold him in the summer when he still had market value.

Good luck though Dan and thanks for everything. One of our own ♥️
