Massive week ahead

I know it’s a bit of a cliche but I think the next 7 days could dictate how our season goes.

If we beat Burnley at home next week it will still be 2 wins in 3. All teams around us, even the top ones, are dropping points. Chelsea lost the other week, Liverpool drew with Burnley, Man Utd drew 3 in a row before last weekend. Mags drew with Wolves. Brentford lost the last match.

6 points out of 9 would be a good return and meant that we had done something neither Man Utd or Liverpool have done in the last few weeks in beating Burnley.

At the same time we have the window where the issue and opportunity are glaringly obvious.

Goalkeeper is sorted. Defence is largely sorted (Unless Hume plays like today regularly and then we need Mukiele there and another CB). Midfield is sorted. Brobbey is currently scoring every game. We could strengthen all of those positions but without major injuries should be ok and we have the spine of a top 10 team IMO. We lack quality on the wings.

Spend any money we have on the wings and another striker in the Brobbey mould. If we get a decent offer for Isidor I’d take it as with PSR and / or if we play the loan market with buy options in the summer like last season we could bring in 2 or 3 that could transform our attack.

Honestly think our season is at a cross roads in the next week. Win against Burnley and bring in 2 wingers and a striker and we would be right in amongst it. Don’t beat Burnley and go into the second half like this and we might keep slipping.

Worst case if Brobbeys goals dry up and we defend like today it will be a long time until May.

Not so sure our season is at a crossroads mate, far from it we have basically achieved the pre season aim of staying up, and done it instyle, we can go into second half and enjoy it, maybe experiment with players and formations with no real pressure, start planning for next season and improving, remember were we have come from.
The squad we have has managed to bounce back after negative results, be great to see Diarra our main summer signing slot into an already decent midfield and get some game time, great if we can bring in a couple of players who have the qualities to improve the squad.
So many established teams are underachieving and they really are at a crossroads of relegation or changing managers the likes of Wolves, West Ham, Forrest, Palace, Spurs, Chelsea, Newcastle and even Liverpool have all been underwhelming and will be unhappy with their league positions.

Strike while the irons hot.

Get the reinforcements in now from a position of strength. Survival was always going to be a brilliant achievement but it could be so much more.

Let’s not regret not pushing on ‘because we’re safe’.

Short of the club stunning us with a couple of signings i think the poster above has nailed it: 9th-14th place which frankly will be amazing.

Theres still a little hope here that we can push Europe but im starting to think without a couple of quality signings we will fall short.

Either way, will still be a cracking season. Im just enjoying it while it lasts considering our ability to completely and utterly self implode.

So mundle le fee talbi can all play right ?
All would be very poor options on the right. We have one natural RW and we need another for me
He's played more on the right in his career you can't just stockpile players how do you expect to keep everyone happy
Talbi only played there as they sold their RW. He is by far at his best on the left

What are people going on about? And having a head loss for?

We are virtually safe, only lost 6 games in 23. We will win more games, we won't be anywhere near relegation and will fall short of Europe.

We will probably finish between 9th-14th.

A fantastic season
Have to agree with that.

If you look at Brighton as a model for how it can be done (and they're frequently held up as an example), they've been in the Prem for 9 seasons now. The first 4 of those, they finished 15th, 17th, 15th and 16th. Then went from that to finishing 9th. And they've played in the EL along the way. They sell their better players eventually but recruit and replace well.

Still very much a chance of a top half finish and can't rule Europe out but I'm still happy with the season overall

I disagree, think we're relatively safe, and anything that happens in the next week is not largely dissimilar to any other.

This.
We would have snapped hands off one point away from bottom theee.
We will have had a great season regardless. Hardly defining our season next week.

One swallow does make a summer but a win of a draw after a loss can restore devastated morale and confidence. The heads of the team will be very low now, They need something to pick themselves up and make them feel happier.

If we can get a hard fought draw against a very good Burnley side then we will have banished all the horrible feelings West Ham United instilled in us.

Problem is our fans will view a draw the way the mags did with their draw at Wolves and it will be total doom and gloom. I would look upon a draw as another point closer even though the Arsenal game after could be a big demoraliser

About as funny as a punch in the stomach

If you look at the PL table Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest just above the trap door tells me Europe is a big bridge and we need a squad prepared over a number of windows to have the strength to do well in both Europe and PL. we must be careful what we wish for…

This this and this , a lot on our fans are just thick , I hate to say it like but it’s true

Literally this, where is peoples ambition? Why are people content with just standing still. Should always strive for more and the best

Why? I don’t understand those who would look at a draw as doom and gloom. Any point against anyone is a thing to celebrate. The very first thing on anyone’s list when their team gets promoted is just not lose games. Ok it’s not ideal but it’s better than no points at all. If given a choice betrays 0 points at West Ham United and 1 point at home to Burnley I know what the best of those are.

Some supporters just expect too much. Their team gets promoted and suddenly it’s talk of top 10 and Europe.

I mean - I'd love to see the club be ambitious and sign another right winger, maybe a central midfielder. But we've already invested in two wingers plus Traore short term during the summer and then a young kid in the last week.

The idea it's that easy is just not realistic - ive just watched 55m Elanga play against Villa! Also look at the links from big clubs towards Adingra and several clubs with Isidor. Two players who don't get into our strongest eleven, yet are seemingly wanted by established clubs.

So two wingers and a striker is a bit OTT in January first season up knowing how hard the market is.
Talbi can yes and has loads

He's played last season there at his previous club, but he's been isolated there for us. He's a different player left side.
